OG CAMP & THE OUR GENERATION STUDENT LEADERSHIP CAMP

The OG in the name OG Camp is

    an abbreviation for Our Generation.

Nearly 10 years ago a coalition of

    pastors, concerned believers, and

    missionaries formed a mobilization

team to motivate middle school, high

school, and college age students to get

    involved in missions.

The OG Camp is one of the events

founded and ran by missionaries to do

    just that!

On the same campus we will be hosting

the 6th annual Our Generation Student

    Leadership Camp for college age

    students who are interested in

learning, training, and serving in foreign

    missions.

We be will motivated by the story of

    the Mount Hermon Conference of

1886. (info found on the next page).

You will be able to find more

    information and register at

    www.bcwe.org

The event will be hosted by Vision

Mount Hermon 1886A story worth repeating...

Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, has beenwaiting expectantly for years beside theConnecticut River, waiting for the MountHermon Conference to reconvene. Up to thisday, however, it has not seen the like. Thoughmany decades have passed since then, theeffect the conference had on the students whoparticipated and on many other people incountries around the world has scarcely beensurpassed. Dwight Moodyhad called the conference, the first national intercollegiate Bible study inAmerica. Mr. Moody was one of the two orthree most prominent evangelists in American

history to that day. This unlettered ex-shoesalesman whose message commanded theattention of English nobility as easily as that ofhis beloved street urchins he cared for inChicago.

To a generation resigned to an every manfor himself approach to life, the immediateoutcome of the Mount Hermon Conferencemay seem strange, though the actions takenwere simple enough. By its close, 100 youngmen had decided to give their lives away in the

bright New England summer of 1886.John R. Mott, in later years a leader in whatcame to be called the Student VolunteerMovement, was a student then who by his ownreckoning the conference marked a decisiveturn in the course of his life. What follows isexcerpted from his first-person account, written down when he revisited MountHermon years later:

There came together here at MountHermon in the month of July, 1886, 251

student delegates. We came from eighty-ninedifferent universities and colleges. With nineof my fellow-students I came from one of theeastern universities, Cornell University.

The leading universities of Canada wererepresented, likewise every section of theUnited States, unless it was the Pacific Coast. There were some quite large delegations, especially from Dartmouth, Amherst, Yale,

Cornell, and Randolph-Macon, one of thecolleges of Virginia.

Among the delegates were a few professorsand teachers, but speaking generally, it was anundergraduate gathering. We met for a periodof four weeks.... We had one platform meetingeach day, which was what we might call a

double-header or a triple-header.Another feature of the daily program was

the little companylittle, I say, althoughbefore the conference was over it includednearly every delegatewhich met for an hourevery morning to discuss methods of carryingon work among our fellow students in theschools and colleges.

In the long afternoons and in the earlyevening, often beneath these beautiful elmtrees ... I remember discussions about the

superhuman work of Christ in conversion, about the principles that should guide one inchoosing a lifework, about the second comingof our Lord. As a result of these manydiscussions under the trees, possibly evenmore than through public addresses, mensdoubts were dissipated, and their faithbecame a reality.

Another part of the daily program was theopportunity for personal fellowship. Weroamed up and down this side of the river, and

we crossed the river and climbed along thesides of the distant hills. Sometimes a manwould go alone, again there would be two men;at times, a little larger companyit might bean entire college delegation.(read the entire story atwww.bcwe.org)

In my library at home ... is a leather-boundnotebook in which I wrote down very carefullyfull notes on all the sermons and addressesand discussions of those four wonderful weeks.I first took them down roughly, and thenduring the afternoons I copied them in ink, underlining with red ink the points that had

Lets cut right to the chase. With so

many camps why do we think we have

something special that is unique andspecial.

    Here are 10 Reasons:

    1. Our camp was started and is ran by

    foreign missionaries.

    2. We present a passionate plea to

surrender that is not limited to but

definitely includes a call for foreign

    missions.

    3. We emphasize the much needed roleof discipleship in the youth ministry.

    4. We have a Be, Do, Serve, Train

    ministering philosophy that helps

students live from the inside out.

    5. Students get real time with

    missionaries.

    6. The entire camp is air conditioned.

    7. We can provide all that traditional

ingredients you expect at a camp

then some.. at a price you can hardly

    beat.

    8. We have a blob.

    9. We are going to help you with

materials to promote camp to your

    students.

    10. You can bring your middle school tocollege age students and get

    environments created especially for

    them.

Why do we think that the OG Camp & Our GenerationStudent Leadership Camp is unique and needed?

    WHAT IS THERE TO DO?

If you are going to take us to a new camp it better be fun! I can already hear it now from the

students. Their will be no shortage of excitement at this camp. We know there are certain

expectations teenagers have concerning summer camp. Fort Bluff is a premier camp and retreat

center with all the bells and whistles to match!

We desire to have the opportunity for our missionaries to share their passion for the Gospel, our

new life in Christ, and our opportunity to be involved in Gods mission. For this to happen we know

we must deliver a camp that you will want to attend and return to. This is our plan!

Outside of the passionate preaching and teaching we will have a blast in our team events. The camp

will be divided up into teams by people groups and will compete with each other. Our games will be

wild, remarkable games around the emphasis of foreign missions.

We will be using the services of the Fort Bluff Summer Staff to run the afternoon sporting events.

You teenagers will have a chance to make teams and register to events on the first day of camp

This is probably the most commonly ask question

about camp. I am glad to say we have a great answer!

CAMP OPERATIONFrom Fort BluffOur goal is to create a positive attitude among all campers to enhance the working of Gods Word and

the Holy Spirit in their hearts.

    A. CAMP RULESFort Bluff Camp is a Christiancamp and retreat center. The standards we maintain apply to everycamper. Any camper who is not cooperative is subject to dismissal at his own expense. If we cannotcontrol a camper, then he/she cannot stay. Our rules and standards will be enforced, in love, butenforced for all.

It is the youth leader s responsibility to communicate our rules, dress code, and standards ofconducts clearly before coming to Fort Bluff Camp.

    B. DRESS CODE

The guidelines stated in the following paragraphs are the acceptable dress code for Fort Bluff Camp.We have many churches whose dress codes differ from each other; however, youth leaders handlethe situation very well by explaining to their young people that sometimes it is necessary to practiceflexibility. Since our camps are only a week, the change will not be a difficult one.

Girls/Ladies Please be modest at all times. No see-through, low-cut, or tight clothing.Evening Services: Church or school attire.Boys/Men Please be modest at all times. No cut-off t-shirts or tight clothing. Evening TabernacleServices: Church or school attire

    C. FIRST AIDAlthough we have first aid facilities available at the camp, we cannot always tend to your young

people as quickly as we would like. Therefore, it is essential that you bring a basic first aid kit withyou. It should include non-aspirin pain reliever, bee sting medication, antiseptic ointment, insectrepellent, ace bandages, band aids, sunburn lotion, and self adhesive strips.

    D. CHURCH COUNSELOR INVOLVEMENTWe do not set a guideline for how many adult workers are needed per amount of campers sentfrom a church. We do, however, encourage as many youth workers as possible to join us. Theyneed to be their to deal with their students as God deals with their hearts. We will speak about thesubject or the discipleship/mentor relationship and we need the youth workers there to model thisdynamic.

Here are some of the ways they will be involved: Dealing with their students at the altar as needed. Encouraging and helping the students get involved in the afternoon events. Times of information assimilation after the evening service to help the students get the most

out of their day. Helping students develop an exit plan from camp back to real life. We believe camp decisions

are REAL! but they need to be REALLY followed up.

This phrase comes from 3 John

1: 7. It speaks of the highest

    motive for missions.

We will also use the story of

    two young Moravian young

    missionaries who sold

    themselves into slavery to drive

    home the them.

    What will the services

    look like?

They will be lively services with

    God honoring music. We will

    hear from many missionaries live

and from videos. There will be

    skits and missions presentations

by the students of the OG

    Student Leadership Conference.

    What will the weather be

    like?

    During the summer months we

enjoy a lot of sun and warm

    weather. The average

    temperature for the summer

    season usually hovers around 80

    to 85 degrees. The occasional

    thunderstorm does make an

    appearance to cool things off.

    How with the youth

    workers be involved?

    Dealing with their

    students at the altar as

    needed.

    Encouraging and

    helping the students get

    involved in the

    afternoon events.

    Times of information

    assimilation after the

    evening service to help

    the students get the

    most out of their day.

    Helping students

    develop an exit plan

    from camp back to real

    life. We believe camp

    decisions are REAL! but

    they need to be

    REALLY followed up.

    What about kids with food

allergies? We will do our best to

    accommodate them with a

    separate menu but will need

    your help knowing in advance.

Will the teenagers be able to

    call home?

We will ask the students not to

bring their phones off the bus

or vans. It will be up to the

    discretion of the youth

    workers from their church to

decide if they can borrow a

    cell phone to call home.

    What is the OGTC?

That is an acronym for the

    Our Generation Training

Center. The OGTC is a three

    year missions training ministry

    of Vision Baptist Church.

    What is the religious

    affiliation of all the

    speakers?

    Every speaker and missionary

speaking at the camp will be

    from Independent Baptist

    churches and organizations.
