• Dr. Jane Close Conoley is CSULB’s seventh president in the campus’s history. As a renowned scholar and educator, President Conoley’s focus is on quality education, affordability and student success.

• Time magazine ranked CSULB among the top 10 best value colleges and universities in the nation based on the Obama administration’s criteria for assessing schools.

• CSULB was designated one of the nation’s top 75 “Best Value” public universities and “Best in the West” by The Princeton Review’s “2014 Best Colleges: Region by Region” for its commitment to high-quality education at an affordable cost.

• CSULB ranks 12th nationally in awarding bachelor’s degrees to minority students by Diverse Issues in Higher Education in its annual list of the “Top 100 Degree Producers” and ninth in student body diversity among undergraduate institutions in the west by U.S. News & World Report.

• The National Institutes of Health recently awarded CSULB a five-year, $22.7 million grant to establish an innovative research program that will prepare underrepresented students for doctoral programs in the sciences.

• The College of Liberal Arts, the largest college on campus, offers 67 majors and minors, 22 departments and programs, innovative centers and over 300 dedicated faculty.

• CSULB’s Hall of Science, a $105 million state-of-the-art facility, promotes undergraduate research and education. The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics has been ranked first in the country for producing physics master’s graduates by the American Institute of Physics and recognized for its preeminent marine biology program.

In addition to state-of-the-art dining facilities, students have access to two popular coffeehouses with late-night food service. Other benefits include free cable TV and high-speed Internet access. At the Beachside, Hillside, and Parkside Colleges, students and faculty, together, experience a unique living-learning environment that offers the intimacy of a small residential college, with the opportunities of a large university.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICESA university-wide emphasis on students’ first year experience at CSULB helps them get acquainted with the campus and prepare for academic success. Support services such as academic advising, career counseling, disabilities accommodation, educational equity services, new student orientation, low-cost health care, and state-of-the-art facilities help meet students’ needs at The Beach.

CAMPUS LIFEWith more than 325 clubs and organizations, as well as a thriving student government, CSULB offers a wide variety of recreational, social, cultural and exciting leadership opportunities. These include intramural and club sports, along with fitness classes. The Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) is a 125,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility with fitness programs, rock climbing walls, as well as basketball, volleyball and badminton courts. The SRWC serves as a place for students to exercise, study and socialize.
