student profile

“Over the past few years, I was asked by friends to help them with interior decoration and design on their homes. It’s something I’ve loved doing so much, that I thought I’d try a couple of short courses to increase my depth of knowledge and understanding of history and design principles.

“I undertook two of the Interior Decoration Design Series courses offered by RMIT.”

“The course content exceeded my expectation. I loved the units and the knowledge I gained gave me the confidence to continue. This experience has encouraged me to follow my passion and take the opportunity of further formal study in interior decoration at RMIT. I am proud to be on my way to gain a recognised qualification with an industry leader. It gives me employment options only limited by my imagination.”

“Let the story begin!”

lecturer profile

Alexandre Gaitan has been teaching foreign languages for twelve years and obtained his Masters in Applied Linguistics two years ago. He has worked in many universities and private schools such as Alliance Francaise, ITESM, The American School, Adomlingua and ITD Durango.

Alexandre has been teaching French at RMIT for four years and he really enjoys seeing his students’ progress, from the first day in class when they learn to say ‘bonjour’ to their final lesson when they show a much more sophisticated command of the language.

As a linguist, Alexandre uses a different range of teaching methods according to each group’s profile, but prefers the communicative approach, in which students use the language in its most common scenarios. He believes that learning a foreign language is a powerful tool in order to grow socially, professionally and intellectually in a globalised world.

singlecourses

student profile

a different study pathWaySingle courses are subjects from degree programs that are available for you to study even if you’re not enrolled as a university student. You will take the same classes and complete the same assessment tasks as enrolled RMIT University students.

A single course could be ideal for you if you wish to:

» gain experience as a university student

» check if you really like the subject matter before committing to a degree

» undertake a single course to complement your degree

» reapply at the next intake—if you enrol and successfully complete a first year single course from an RMIT degree program, you may be able to reapply at the next intake and obtain exemptions after enrolling in your program.

For more information and to enrol visit www.singlecourses.rmit.edu.au or call +61 3 9925 8111.

“I have just completed the Landscape Architecture Foundation Design Studio 1.”

“I chose to enrol in a single subject to explore the possibility of enrolling in the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture full time. The studio offered many different challenging projects to further my design skills as well as a very supportive environment created by the tutors.”

“From this experience I have gained confidence as a mature age student to continue my studies. The single subject experience has been a very positive one.”
