PET JOKES Escargots A couple was having a party at their house. An hour before the party the woman found out that she still needed Escargots. So she sent her husband out to get some. He was walking to the supermarket and he figured he had lots of time, so he stopped at the bar on the way. An hour and a half later he looked at his watch and realized that the party had already started. He quickly ran to the market, bought the snails and ran home. He tried to sneak into the kitchen without his wife seeing him. But at that moment his wife came out. He quickly threw the snails on the floor and said, "Come on guys, we're almost there."

Definition of a Pet Lover!

Are you a dedicated Pet Lover?

Do you ever wish you could text your pet during the day to see what they’re up to or sneak off for a quick snuggle to help you through a challenging project? For many of us, our pets have become our BPFFs (best pet friends forever). We enjoy a close bond with these sweet, adorable friends and our attachment can be as deep as those we have with the humans in our lives. They bring us unconditional love, heartwarming experiences, and such joy that we could not imagine our lives without them. And when the time comes to say good-bye to one of our cuddly friends, our hearts break and the pain can be overwhelming.

Sound familiar? Or maybe you have a hard time admitting that you have a close relationship with your best pet friend. Perhaps you think it’s quirky to dress your pet in cute outfits, yet you and your BPFF spend every free moment sharing your favorite activities together. Being deeply connected to your pet is not only okay, you’re in great company! You are a member of a growing number of pet lovers from all ages, back-grounds, and cultures that enjoy a wonderful relationship with their pets.

While nearly 63 percent of U.S. households own one or more pets, a pet statistic that is not often discussed but becomes apparent when you follow pet trends, is the increase in the number of people who identify with being a pet lover versus a pet owner. So what’s the difference?

Being a pet lover seems to be one of those subjective phrases that evoke an emotional response in all types of humans. Few are immune – not even the toughest guy or the most career-minded woman.

Here are some of the tell-tale signs of a true pet lover.

When speaking about your pets, if you didn’t know better, you would swear you

were talking about your kids. In fact, for many pet lovers, their pets are their kids or

at least, their furry kids.

When you are in close proximity to another pet, even if your pet is not with you,

your face lights up, you turn to mush, and the conversation quickly shifts to a pet

topic. Sound familiar!

We also treat our pets like members of our family, celebrating their birthday,

making sure they have a care giver when we’re away, bestowing our love and

affection upon them daily, and buying special toys and treats to make them happy. If

you are all of the above, then you are a genuine pet lover! Congratulations!

Happy Pet Loving!

FOUND ANIMALS

Think LOST not Stray!

1. Secure the animal so it is safe

2. Take the animal to a vet or shelter to check for a microchip

3. No chip or current info?

You have 2 options...

Turn the animal into the nearest/assigned shelter

Keep the animal for 30 days and post flyers, post on social media, file a found

report with the shelter and make every attempt to find the owner. This is the

legal responsibility.

DO NOT offer the animal to someone else or attempt to sell the animal.

It is someone’s property and you can have legal charges brought against

you.

LOST ANIMALS

1. File a lost report with your local shelters and microchip company

2. Make flyers and hang all around the neighborhood.

3. Go door to door asking if anyone has seen your pet

4. Post on social media sites like Craigslist, Nextdoor and Facebook Missing Pets

Irish Wolfhound Secures Incredible

Guinness World Record

An Irish Wolfhound in Westerlo, Belgium is now officially the proud holder of a Guinness World Record.

The dog, named Keon, holds the record for the "longest tail on a dog." How long is his tail? 30.2 inches (or 2 feet and 6.2 inches). Not only is this an amazingly long tail, but it's also a total of 1.7 inches longer than the previous record holder.

Keon, who belongs to Ilse Loodts and her family, had to have his tail examined and measured by a veterinarian to receive the official record. Even though Keon is an Irish name meaning "courageous warrior," his owner tells Guinness World Records that he's a gentle giant and easy to take care of.

Irish Wolfhounds are known for being calm, dignified, and courageous.

PAW-SCOPES

DOGS: Your pooch can be rather lazy and indulgent at times. And without lifting a paw, they make a beautiful display sprawled across the couch. When not resting, he or she needs to have interactive play-time, both inside and out as this is a must to keep their mental and physical agility intact. CATS: Your cat can be your true companion for life, bonding with you on many levels. Try not to leave home without leaving something of yours for them to snuggle up to. They will miss you less if a reminder of your essence is left behind.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE LIPIZZANNER HORSE BREED

The Lipizzaner is a breed of horse closely associated with the Spanish Riding

School of Vienna, Austria, where they demonstrate the haute école or "high

school" movements of classical dressage, including the highly controlled, stylized

jumps and other movements known as the "airs above the ground." The horses at

the Spanish Riding School are trained using traditional methods that date back

hundreds of years, based on the principles of classical dressage.

The Lipizzan breed dates back to the 16th century, when it was developed with

the support of the Habsburg nobility. The breed takes its name from one of the

earliest stud farms established, located near the Karst Plateau village of

Lipica (spelled "Lipizza" in Italian), in modern-day Slovenia. The breed has been

endangered numerous times by warfare sweeping Europe, including during

the War of the First Coalition, World War I and World War II. The rescue of the

Lipizzans during World War II by American troops was made famous by

the Disney movie Miracle of the White Stallions. Along with the Disney movie,

Lipizzaner’s have also starred or played supporting roles in many movies, TV

shows, books and other media.

The WWF LOGO * * * * *

The inspiration for the World Wildlife

Fund (WWF) logo came from Chi-Chi: a

giant panda that had arrived at the London Zoo in 1961,

the same year WWF was created. The first panda

sketches were done by the British environmentalist and

artist, Gerald Watterson. Based on these, Sir Peter

Scott, one of WWF’s founders and world-renowned

conservationist and painter, drew the first logo.

The design of the logo has evolved over the past four

decades, but the giant panda’s distinctive features

remain an integral part of WWF’s treasured and unmis-

takable symbol. Today, WWF’s trademark is recognized

as a universal symbol for the conservation movement.

WORLD’S RAREST COFFEE

The world’s rarest coffee, Kopi Luwak, comes from Indonesia where a wildcat known as the Luwak lives. The cat eats the coffee berries and the coffee beans inside pass through the stomach. The beans are harvested from the cat's dung heaps and then cleaned and roasted. Kopi Luwak sells for about $500 for a 450 g (1 lb) bag. This was also mentioned in the movie “The Bucket List” starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. So you might just think about where your next cup of coffee came from!
