By creating meadows and increasing the number of native and perennial plants in our gardens and managed landscapes we can take an active role in protecting managed and native pollinators, essential for both our agricultural crops and native plants. social area for this work to go on twice a month. Much of our sewing also takes place in our own homes. Over the years, we have donated quilts to RSVP for their raffle, bringing in over $25,000 for their Meals on Wheels and Medical Appointment drivers. One of our largest efforts all at one time was

The Material Girls was started in 2001 for the sole purpose of making quilts for charity. The group is made up of talented quilters who love to make quilts for others, but ran out of their own family and friends to make them for - so they joined our group. We started by making raffle quilts for RSVP. The group then branched from the raffle quilt each year to organizations that could use the talents of this generous group.

Most of the fabric for the quilts comes from the members of the group. Over the years we have had folks who are clearing out their “stash” and have donated it to us. We have been very fortunate to have the Church of Christ donate their

103 quilts for the Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossippee when they moved into their new home. They were delivered the day after it opened. The quilts have been made for organizations outside of the area such as Blue Star Mother for Afghanistan soldiers, Haiti earthquake, hurricane Irene, Wrap-a-Smile (doctors who do facial reconstruction in third world countries), Camp Sunshine, Project Linus and Manchester Veteran’s Home. Locally, we have made quilts for Merriman House, Mineral Springs, Starting Point, Christmas Can Cure, Angels and Elves and others. For further information you may contact Gail McClure at [email protected].

He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children’s show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good and life lessons are learned.
