The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ www.ccasta.org

“Receive, live, and share Christ” - from the CCASTA Mission Statement

This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood or Christ of Corpus Christi. This weekend as we celebrate our

belief in the Real Presence of the Eucharist that is truly the heart of our Catholic faith, sadly we can for-get about or even take for granted the Eucharist. Each time we gather for Mass through the power of the Holy Spirit and the words of Consecration, bread and wine are transformed into the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. That gives us all quite a lot to ponder with awe in how blessed we are to receive God Himself. This feast, which reminds us of what we receive at Mass should challenge us to ask, - Do our own actions and attitudes really demon-strate our appreciation that we receive God Himself? - Since I am receiving the living God, do I make at-tending Mass one of the major priorities of my life? - Do I dress for Mass in a way that demonstrates I am going to be in the presence of God Himself? - Am I paying attention during Mass? Do I arrive late or leave early which I would not do for a social function because it shows disrespect, but do I do it to God? - When I am waiting to receive communion, and when I receive communion, am I preparing myself to literally receive God? Some important questions that this feast of Corpus Christi should make us all ponder a little more in our lives.

The Little Sisters of the Poor, who have cared for the elderly in the Baltimore area for the last 150 years have, like all of us, faced many new challenges in the last 90+ days at St. Martin’s Home in Catonsville and need our help now more than ever.

We will be collecting food for them on: Saturday, June 27th from 9 to 10 am in the rear parking lot of

St. Augustine’s Church.

Please follow all local health and safety restrictions in place on June 27. The Sisters have requested the following non-perishable items:

• Bottled Water (a large supply is required by Health Dept.)

• Gatorade (12 oz. bottles) • Tea Bags & Coffee K-cups

(Reg. & Decaf) • Juice Boxes (Individual) • Pudding & Jello (Mixes & Individual Cups) • Snack Foods (Individual Packs) • Cookies & Crackers • Canned Fruits, Vegetables & Soups • Spaghetti Sauces (All

varieties) • Pancake Mix & Syrup • Cake & Cookie Mixes • Canned Frostings • Jellies & Jams • Salad Dressings • Ketchup

Monetary donations are also very gratefully accepted as the Sisters will need to purchase many perishable food items during the summer.

The Little Sisters and St. Martin’s Residents are most appreciative of CCASTA’s continuing, generous support and pray daily for all of us.

Sponsored by St. Augustine’s Sodality. For more information, please contact An-na Marie Kinerney at 443-296-7571

Elevate the ordinary – It doesn't matter what you are doing. If you are doing it mindfully, you are liv-ing in the now, and you are experiencing quality time. Mindfulness makes all your day-to-day tasks more special.

Be more intentional about little decisions – For example, the next time you pick up your phone to mind-lessly scroll, or the TV remote control to mindlessly channel surf, stop and ask yourself about your in-tention in that moment.

Appreciate slowness – Impatience with waiting is, in part, impatience with slowness, but the profound truth is that slower is often better. A meal prepared and eaten slowly is a feast. A book read aloud is a memorable experience.

Be childlike – Children may not be good at waiting or spending time in quiet calm, but they are masters at living in the moment. When they're at play, they're completely engaged. In fact, play is mindfulness in motion. So, play like a child.

Breathe – If you find yourself anxious or impatient, pay attention to your breath. Breathe into a count of five, and breathe out to a count of five. Do this as many times as it takes to find your sense of quiet calm.

Daydream – Daydreaming, wishing, and hoping are all precursor activities. They help us imagine and clarify our best futures. Making a vision board is an in-the-now activity to capture and set your inten-tions to realize your dreams.

Embrace humility – Entering a moment with humility means trying not to judge or stress, preplan or control. Subdue your ego, and instead be open and receptive to whatever the moment brings.

Choose effectiveness over efficiency – Efficiency often means getting things done quickly but mindlessly. Effectiveness means first reflecting on why we are doing what we're doing, then choosing the best, most mindful path.

Heed your divine spark – I believe our spirits know why we're here on earth. All we have to do is notice what makes our divine sparks grow stronger or weaker, then make choices about how to spend our time accordingly.

The wonder of waiting is that if we use this hiatus to practice quiet calm, when restrictions are lifted, we will be equipped to return to our “old normal” as changed people. Life will never be the same, but in a good way. And imagine what this world can be if even a small percentage of the seven-and-half billion of us are transformed into more patient, mindful, kind, and humble people.

Dear Friends: Dr. Wolfelt and I pray that something you've read over these past 8 weeks has invited you to reflect on different ways of coping with a Pandemic that took us all by surprise.

Be assured of our continued prayers for you and your families now and in the weeks ahead! God Bless, Prayers, Love, and Peace!
