From the desk of PhilipWhat Makes the Great Great?

Part 1

People often wonder what separates great leadersand achievers from ordinary people. Is theresome mysterious ingredient that great peoplehave but the mediocre lack? Is greatnesssomething you are born with, or is it shaped anddeveloped by events, upbringing or training?

These are questions that have intrigued me for as long as I canremember.

I guess the fascination in ‘being great’ started as a young boy as I saton the lap of my first great hero, my Grandfather. A decorated warhero, pioneer and successful, respected international entrepreneur andbusinessman, it was easy for this giant of a man to capture theattention of his young grandson. "What is it that differentiates thewarrior from the average soldier, son?" he once asked me. Too youngto answer then, the question planted a seed inside of me.

On occasion I was given permission to look over the shelves where hekept his collection of books of the great men and women who havehelped shape history. As I carefully turned the pages, the need for ananswer to the question continued to grow; what is it that makes thegreat great?

With time I created my own list of great leaders and achievers. Yet instudying their lives, there was no clear answer to the question. Themore I looked, the more I noticed many inconsistencies. Each greatleader had different characteristics, strengths, flaws, backgrounds, anddefining moments.

As my interest in entrepreneurship and business grew, I began towonder the same question of business; what makes the great companygreat? Is there a single ingredient that defines and separates a greatcompany from the mediocre and average?

Being great is a passion of our growing Gold Tribe. The combination of many small things attributes to greatness, but there is one single, defining thing that makes greatness whether it is in a tribe, a person ora company. So what is it that makes the great great? We will uncoverthis mystery next week in Part 2.

FROM THE CEO

There is much spoken in the world today aboutsuccess and what it takes to ‘achieve’ your personaland business ‘mission’ in life.

Back in the day as a military officer, we believedthat good looks, personality, wealth, charm, militarybackground, sheer skill and a thorough knowledgeof the game would get us success in any venture.

Experience gradually showed us that while these are all greatcharacteristics, they are more likely to work for us in the bar than theboardroom.

Thirty years serving in and consulting to the military has taught me tenfoundational principles that, when applied to any mission in life, producesuccess as your predetermined result.

Okay, so what is Principle Number One?

Select and Maintain the Aim

The thing is, we all d o the ‘select’ part pretty easy; yet it is themaintain’ pa rt that makes the difference. This principle will work for youno matter what the circumstances, which is great!

We all know our efforts to ‘maintain’ will be te sted, so hang in there. You are not in this alone. You have chosen to journey with us inYOU nique this year, and that is fantastic! Our commitment to you is tomaintain our focus on continued improvements to better deliver whatyou want - for YOU!

GOLD - DID YOU KNOW?

In the Words of Others

YOU nique’s purpose is to bring F inancial F reedom to millions of people globally. So, naturally, freedom is something that is ofinterest to our Gold Tribe . In history there have been many great warriors who have devoted their lives to the fight for freedom.Nelson Mandela is an exemplar of the struggle for freedom having sacrificed his entire life, including spending nearly three decadesbehind bars, for the freedom of his people.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one's own chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”

Mandela’s statement profoundly says that true freedom is not personal but comes when str iving for greaterfreedom for others. In 1993 Mandela accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of all South Africans who sufferedand sacrificed so much to bring peace to their land. To this day he remains South Africa's best known and lovedhero.

F inancial F reedom is no different than social, civil or racial freedom. For us to be truly financially free, wemust be working toward the freedom of others. Our Gold Tribe is focused on others. By striving to see

others achieve financial freedom, we, too, achieve financial freedom.

The current uptrend in gold

began in early 2000/1. At thistime of writing we find for thefirst time in nine years thatfinancial investment demandhas overtaken jewelry demand.

Get ready, because this industryis on the cusp of its next massivelong-term up-leg moving into theforeseeable future.

Orphan ’s Lives are Changing for the Better!

Thanks to YOU nique Wealth and the Amazing Manna Relief Program

YOU nique is a company with the passionate purpose to release F inancial F reedominto the lives of millions in the next few years. With the belief that the path tosuccess starts with benevolence, charity and compassion, YOU nique gives 10% of itsnet profits to constructive aid through its YOU nique Difference Foundation . ThisFoundation was established in Panama, Central America, in 2003 for less fortunatechildren and families in the region.

Sister Lourdes and Amanda Heapes formed Build a Bridge Foundation tohelp kids in Malambo Orphanage Panama. Malambo houses over 160orphans. Thirty-three of those orphans have AIDS, many aremalnourished, and several have other physical difficulties.

During a visit to Malambo, Amanda and her son, Liam, discovered thatthe children with AIDS had to take many drugs which left them very

tired. The malnourished children were also constantly lifeless and sick.Amanda was determined that the Foundation would help the childrenreceive as healthy nutrition as possible.

Thanks to a donation from YOU nique Difference Foundation and theManna Relief program, Build a Bridge Foundation was able to acquirehundreds of nutritional products. Sister Lourdes' first comment uponAmanda’s next visit was, "O ne of the boys has been given the all-clearfrom AIDS. It is miraculous! I need you to get some more." In addition, the other children had a significant drop of AIDS detected in their blood.Recently, one more child has also been given the all-clear. Orphans livesare changing, for the better!
