When it comes to health and fitness, are you on OR off the wagon? If you are feeling both, you are not alone, and we can try to figure it out together. Day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month our lives are changing, and we need to figure out how to keep our love for health and fitness the same. This is true especially over summer, when hot sunny days, more vacation time, BBQs, drinks, and lounging make it that much harder to pay attention to our health and fitness. If our love for health and fitness has faded over the summer, perhaps we need to consider picking things back up again. Looking ahead, how are we going to handle the change in pace when September rolls around? Yikes! We need to figure out a way to get ourselves back on the health and fitness wagon, so we do not go crashing off when the ride gets bumpy! A great place to start is by asking: What are my goals? How will I feel when I reach those goals? Why do I want to go to a fitness class? How do I feel when I do not do the exercise I enjoy? Why do I want to eat healthy? How do I feel when I do not eat right for me? How do I feel right now & how is this affecting me? What changes do I need to make? If we do not understand ourselves and why the health and fitness wagon is an important ride for us, then when things get bumpy, we will ditch the wagon. How will jumping off the wagon of health and fitness affect everything else in our lives? For sure life is a bumpy ride, but once we OWN our choices and know ourselves; and once we decide WHY health and fitness IS right for us, then hopping on the wagon and holding on through the bumpy roads, will turn from a bumpy ride into a JOURNEY. Remember YOUR health and fitness is unique to YOUR needs! We should stick to what works for us, what we enjoy doing, what makes us feel good about ourselves, and stay away from negative activities, foods, places and thoughts. I wrote this because I fell off the wagon, and now I am sitting down to figure out myself, my goals and plan to prepare for the change of the seasons. When it comes to

health and

fitness, are you

on OR off the

wagon?

If you are feeling both, you are not alone, and we can

try to figure it out together.

Day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month our lives

are changing, and we need to figure out how to keep

our love for health and fitness the same. This is true

especially over summer, when hot sunny days, more

vacation time, BBQs, drinks, and lounging make it that

much harder to pay attention to our health and

fitness.

If our love for health and fitness has faded over the

summer, perhaps we need to consider picking things

back up again. Looking ahead, how are we going to

ourselves back on the health and fitness wagon, so

we do not go crashing off when the ride gets bumpy!

A great place to start is by asking:

What are my goals? How will I feel when I reach those goals? Why do I want to go to a fitness class? How do I feel when I do not do the exercise I enjoy? Why do I want to eat healthy?

How do I feel when I do not eat right for me? How do I feel right now & how is this affecting me? What changes do I need to make?

If we do not understand ourselves and why the

health and fitness wagon is an important ride for us,

then when things get bumpy, we will ditch the wagon.

How will jumping off the wagon of health and fitness

affect everything else in our lives?

For sure life is a bumpy ride, but once we OWN our

choices and know ourselves; and once we decide

WHY health and fitness IS right for us, then hopping

on the wagon and holding on through the bumpy

roads, will turn from a bumpy ride into a JOURNEY.

Remember YOUR health and fitness is unique to

YOUR needs! We should stick to what works for us,

what we enjoy doing, what makes us feel good about

ourselves, and stay away from negative activities,

foods, places and thoughts.

I wrote this because I fell off the wagon, and now I am

sitting down to figure out myself, my goals and plan

to prepare for the change of the seasons. I am

preparing myself to hop on and hold on, NOT for a

bumpy ride, but a JOURNEY!

Practice DOES make perfect...

When we introduced the Plank-A-Day Challenge for

the Summer Warrior, we did not know we had a

“Secret Warrior”! Not only has this Warrior shown us

how practicing does make perfect, she is an example

that when you have a motivation to be well and

healthy, you will keep working at it and STAY on that,

“Health and Fitness Wagon.”

There is NO falling off for this Warrior, even when

things may seem tough. She has experienced two

heart attacks. After which, to prove her own show of

strength and determination to keep herself healthy

and well, she hiked the mountain tops in Hawaii.

Our 62 year old

“Secret Warrior”

comes in to the

studio for classes

and brings her

positive energy,

love and support

for us and herself.

How did we discover she was a secret warrior?

Recently one morning she asked, “can you please

check my plank?”.

“Yes for sure” I smiled.

I saw her plank and was just blown away! My

immediate reaction to her perfect plank was: “Wow!

You should be so proud, that is exactly how a plank

should be! What have you been doing to achieve

this? Are you doing the plank challenge?”

Her reply was: “I just do it for myself at home. Every

morning I do a 20 minute exercise video that gets me

moving from head to toe. For the last two months I

have not been able to do push ups because my

shoulder was injured, so I have been planking. When

you started the challenge for planks (at Younique), I

did not realize what I was practicing was so good for

me...us”

This Warrior has been faced with health challenges,

and CHOSE not to let that bring her down. She is

trying to dedicate herself to health and wellness. She

hurt her shoulder and rather than stopping, she

found and alternative that worked for her, and found

out it worked even better for her WHOLE body. She is

doing it all, and she is enjoying it because she is doing

what she wants to do.

So, here is a great example of how “practice makes

perfect” AND how having a motivation helps you

stick with it.

So what is her motivation for dedication to her 20

minutes every morning, practicing planks at home,

attending classes, hiking, and keeping SO positive?

“...because one day when I have grandbabies, I want

to be a healthy Grandma so I can play with them and

hold them.”

Dedication, inspiration, and motivation right there.

Thank you “Secret Warrior” and thank you to

everyone who supports us and is working towards a

healthier life at Younique! Krista and Melanie are

proud to have so many amazing Younique Warriors

at the studio!

AUGUST CLASS SCHEDULE UPDATE:

Yoga on Wednesdays at 5:30pm is STILL RUNNING

until the end of August.

Krista will be away at the Zumba Convention in

Orlando from August 8th to 13th. Toni and Lorenza

will help cover some classes, and Melanie will be

teaching BellyFit on Saturday, August 11th at

9:15am and Monday, August 13th at 10:30am.
