CLASSROOM NEWS
Fireflies
We are welcoming new little tiny infants this month to Fireflies. Please help them feel at home
here!
Caterpillars
The Caterpillars are working on colors, shapes and those
important social skills such as sharing and taking turns!
Spiders
Spiders 1 would like to start working on using the stairs, so if
you could practice with your child when you drop off or pick
up, that would be great. Spiders 2 is focusing on self-help skills
and becoming more independent!
Crickets
Ms. Allie and Ms. Ashley are working with these busy Cricket
students on using their words and really trying to hold their
pencils correctly as they practice writing.
Chameleons
We welcome a couple returning students this summer to the
Chameleons group. It will be fun to see everyone, again!
Thank you to Infused Landscaping!

I recently came across a very good article from Children’s Health that had great summer safety tips for
kids. Here are a few of them:
1. Keep watch to prevent drowning: It only takes seconds for drowning to happen. Actively supervise all children.
2. Look for signs of heat exhaustion: Prior to heat stroke, children will often show symptoms of heat cramps and heat exhaustion.
3. Check for car safety; Make sure your child’s car seat is properly installed and never leave a child unattended in a car.
4. Protect skin from the sun: Wear sunscreen and reapply after 3 hours or after being in water.
5. Avoid bug bites: Use insect repellant and avoid scented soaps or lotions.
6. Enjoy fireworks safely
7. Drink enough water: At least half your child’s weight (up to 100 pounds) - that is the amount in ounces.
8. Don’t monkey around: Playground related injuries account for more than 200,000 ER visits each year.
9. Wear a life jacket on boats: Use a U.S.Coast Guard approved personal floatation device.
10. Ride bikes the smart way: Make sure that all children wear a helmet when riding a bike!

Summer Math: Ice Cream Cones
Directions: • Cut out triangles from brown construction paper or
cardboard • Write numbers on each upside down “ice cream cone” • Supply a bowl of colored pompoms • Allow children to use small tongs or tweezers (this works
on their fine motor skills) to place the correct amount of “Scoops” (pompoms) of ice cream on top of the numbered “Cones”
