Aim of the Game

The farmers catch the sheep and the bad sheep tags the sheep in the pen.

Instructions

• Three farmers catch the sheep and the sheep have to go into the pen marked by cones

• Then the bad sheep can come and set them free • If you get caught three times you’re out.

How to make it easier / harder

• Take away one farmer and increase the number of times you can get caught.

• Add more farmers and decrease the number of times you can get caught.

Notes

• Three farmers and one bad sheep. • 12 to 15 people as sheep.

Back Primary School

Safe Cracker

Equipment

Chair Object to act as keys Blindfold Soft ball

Aim of the Game

To get the keys.

Instructions

• The key keeper must sit blindfolded on a chair at one end of the hall.

• The children should crawl towards him to try and steal the keys, which are placed under the chair.

• The game leader shouts, “stop” at various intervals and the blindfolded person must throw a soft ball.

• Anyone it hits is out. • Players are not allowed to dodge the ball. • After throwing the ball the leader returns the ball to the

key keeper. • The winner is the person who manages to steal the

treasure or the last person in the game.

How to make it easier / harder

Shorten the distance of the play area.

Aim of the Game

The aim is not to get caught and for everyone who plays it to have fun.

Instructions

• Play music (optional). • One or more catchers with a ball try to get the rest of

the players out by throwing the ball at them (under the knee).

• Players who are caught by the ball must dance on the spot until another person frees them by saying “ Disco Disco, Boom, Boom!”, while rolling their arm twice in the air and touching fists with them.

Equipment

Aim of the Game

To get everyone in your team onto the bench but the last person

Instructions

Place a bench at each end of the area Put the two teams in front of each bench and put the cones in a line in the middle separating the two teams One person from each team has to stand on the bench op-posite Get the ref to stand in the middle and throw the ball into the air. The person who catches it gains possession for their team Only one step is allowed before he/she has to throw it to another person and so on until they are in a position to throw it to the person on the bench The person who throws the ball to the person on the bench gets to join them on the bench but only if the ball is caught cleanly This carries on until everyone is on the bench except for one If the ball goes off the pitch, the opposite team gets the ball

How to make it easier / harder

Easier - No time limit, smaller area, less people, two+ balls. Harder - Time limit, bigger area, more people, one ball.

Bayble Primary School

Equipment

Mats Bibs Cones 2 large sponge balls

Aim of the Game

To catch the rabbits.

Instructions

• There are 3 catchers (called cats or badgers or foxes) • The other children are runners (called rabbits) and

have to run from the catchers • There are rabbit holes (mats) that rabbits can go in and

be safe from the catchers. They can only stay in the rabbit hole for 10 seconds.

• The catchers are not allowed to wait by the rabbit holes or go for the same rabbit all the time

• If you are caught you have to go to the fox den which is a large mat at the end of the hall.

How to make it easier / harder

More or less mats More or less catchers

Notes

Instead of using mats for islands we could use coloured rub ber circles or felt squares mats. If the catchers catch 7-10 rabbits the game is OVER.

Bat Ball Bean Bags Goal Area

Aim of the Game

To try and get as many beanbags as possible

Instructions

• Scatter beanbags all around the area • Identify 1 person to be a bowler and 1 person to collect

the ball • Everyone else lines up to bat • The first batter tries to hit the ball into the goal. If the

ball goes into the goal, they run to collect as many beanbags as possible before the ball is returned. 1 beanbag = 1 point.

• If the ball doesn’t go into the goal they get 1 point and return to the end of the line. Each person gets 2 or 3 turns.

• The person with the most points at the end wins • Remember to change the person bowling and collect-

ing

How to make it easier / harder

To stay out of the dungeon by not being last to the destina-tion that has been called out by the leader

Instructions

• Name each wall - Battlefield, Ballroom, Kitchen & Tower

• When the leader calls out the place you run to it • When you go to the:

• Ballroom = dance • Tower = pretend to climb • Kitchen = pretend to cook • Battlefield = pretend using a bow and arrow

• When the leader shouts: • King’s Coming = bow • Intruders = pretend to fight • Serve the King = sweep the floor • Cannonball = duck down and put your hands on your

head

• The last one to destination or follow command goes to the dungeon

How to make it easier / harder

The leader can shout Prison Break when people are in the dungeon and that means they are free and the games lasts longer.

Guess what the mime is and run to win.

Instructions

• Children are put in groups using 1,2,3,4...etc. • Each person in the group chooses something to mime

and act it out in turns. • The person who answers correctly from each group

runs (distance can be chosen depending on where you are playing) and then tags the next person in the group to do their mime.

• The winning group is the group who guesses all the mimes and finishes running first.

Aim of the Game

The aim of the game is to catch as many balls as possible in the upside down cone to beat the other team

Instructions

• Place the box of balls in the middle and put discs on either side of the box, to indicate were players should throw from

• Divide the group into two teams, choose team captains and give each team member a number 1-?

• Each team should stand on either side of the area facing each other

• Lay two discs in front of where the team is standing • When your number is called, you sprint to the box of balls

and take one, then throw it from the area into the upside down cone which the team captain is holding

• The captain tries to catch the ball without moving their feet • If the ball bounces on the floor, then into the cone the point

doesn’t count • One ball counts as one point. • The game carries on for a period of time or until one of the

cones is full • The team with the most balls in the cone wins!!

How to make it easier / harder

To make it harder the players must throw backwards Younger players can throw forwards and/or stand nearer the captain to make it easier

Splat and Run

Equipment

10 Cones 5 beanbags 1 splat (target) 2 hoops

Aim of the Game

The aim of the game is to knock down the splat (target) before the other team (running team) run round the cones five times. You get 2 points if you knock down the target. You get 1 point for every time you run round the cones.

Instructions

• Split the group into two teams • One is the Running team and the other is the Splatting

team. • Set out the circle with the cones at one end of the area

and set the target up at the other end. • The splatting team each have a beanbag and they take it

in turns to try and knock down the Target. Once they have had a shot they collect their beanbag and join the end of the team line

• At the same time, members of the other team are trying to run round the cones 5 times.

• Whoever knocks down the target shouts ‘splat’ and the runners must stop

• The running team shouts ‘stop splatting’ if they get round five times.

How to make it easier / harder

You can put the target further away or closer You can make the circle bigger or smaller.

Notes

Rules! Splatting team: • You must hit the next persons hand to carry on playing. • You have to shout ‘splat’ to stop the running team. • You have to shout ‘stop splatting’ to stop the splatting

team.

3 Large Hoops Beanbags

Aim of the Game

To get the most beanbags and/or to name the traitor.

Instructions

• Split the group into 3/4 teams • Each team has a hoop in front of them & there is a hoop in

the middle, with the beanbags in it • Players must go one at a time to steal beanbags from the

middle, when there are none left in the middle players need to steal from the other team’s hoop.

• Leaders will tell one player from each team to be a traitor • The traitor must also steal from their own team without

other team members noticing • When a player thinks they know who the team traitor is

they must run into the middle hoop and shout out the trai-tor’s name

• The team to correctly identify their traitor gets a point as does the team with the most beanbags at that time

How to make it easier / harder

Easier - More traitors in each team. Harder - More teams

Beanbags/Soft balls

Aim of the Game

To hit as many children as you can with the bean bags/soft balls. The last one standing is the winner.

Instructions

• Choose 2-4 children to be the divers (catchers) • The rest of the children are fishes (runners) and go to

one end of the hall/pitch • To start the game one of the divers shouts ‘Swim Away’

and the fishes run from their end of the wall to the other • The divers throw the bean bags/soft balls at the fishes. • If you are hit by the ball you are a piece of seaweed

that can tag the fishes.

How to make it easier / harder

Easier - To make it easier for the divers you can make it a smaller space. or the fishes you can make it a bigger space.

Notes

Fishes can choose between three different sea creatures. Shark - hand on head for the sharks fin Dolphin - Jump around with your hands on your head. Octopus - Wave your arms about whilst you are running

Equipment

Ropes or poles

Aim of the Game

Leader (peat bog fairy) must transport the team over the marked peat bog. Only the leader can stand in the bog.

Instructions

• Divide pupils into teams of five or six. • A leader is chosen as the peat fairy who has amazing

powers to transport others over the peat bog without them falling in.

• The fairy must move the team one at a time across the bog without them falling

• The fairy must move the team one at a time each at a different position from the last.

• Anyone who is dropped is sucked into the bog and out of the game

The sides can be made wider. Encourage front piggy backs, back piggy backs, supported cart wheels, fireman’s lift etc

Instructions

• Choose one person to be the Fox, who stands in hoop with all objects in the hoop

• All other players are rabbits and stand at another hoop • The rabbits must try to steal the objects and can only

take one at a time • The fox can try and catch the rabbits • If a rabbit is caught they must join the foxes team • The fox can steal objects back, but if he is caught by a

rabbit they join the rabbits team • The team with the most objects at the end of the time

are the winners

Aim of the Game

To get 3 big balls, 2 tennis balls and 1 cone in your hoops before the other team

Instructions

• Divide children into 2 teams • Place one hula hoop in front of each team • Put 3rd hoop at other end of hall and place objects in

hoop • Choose 1 Catcher who can tag running children and 1

Stealer who steals objects from team hoops and re-turns it to the main hoop.

• On signal one person from each team runs to collect an object and brings it back to their hoop

• If children are tagged without object they must return to their team or if they have an object they must return the object and then return to their team

• The stealer can steal 1 object at a time from the any team’s hoop

• The winning team is the team with the most objects at the end of time or team that gets the required objects in their hoops

Instructions

• Put everyone into pairs and make them stand back to back in the middle.

• Place a cone with a ball on it between each pair • Shout ‘Go’, every pair has to run to a chosen area in

the opposite direction and run back to the middle • The first one back is allowed to pick up the ball and try

to catch their partner • The person who is caught is then out and the catcher

joins with the player next to them and continue the game

Aim of the Game

The aim of the game is to be the first team back having all got the bean bags in the target.

Instructions

• Group is divided into three teams or optional number • Team members have to take it in turn to slide through

the cones and score, getting the bean bag in the target. • The object of the game is that every team member

scores and the first team back wins. • If you do not get the bean bag in the target you have to

try again because in order to win everyone in the team has to score.

• You have to shoot from at least two metres away from the target.

How to make it easier / harder

Easier - Put the target closer to the shooter, smaller space, bigger target, less obstacles. Harder - More obstacles, bigger space, smaller target, use bigger shooting equipment.

Notes

Be sure to tag the next team player before they leave the starting point.

Aim of the Game

Try to get the ball/balloon to the box without getting tackled by the opposite team.

Instructions

• Dribble the ball/balloon with your hand bouncing it up • You have to hit the ball/balloon into the box without get

tackled by the other team. • If one team hits the ball/balloon behind the box, the other

team gets a free throw. • The team with the highest scores, at the end of the time

limit, wins.

How to make it easier / harder

Easier - Fewer teams (more than 2 teams) less space. Harder - Bigger playing space & more teams (max 4 teams).

One team has bibs and the other team has their Jumpers .

Aim of the Game

The aim is to get the 2 or 3 bean bags that make the colour requested by the catcher without being hit by the ball

Instructions

• Children line up at the end of the hall • Leader explains colour combinations • Choose 2 catchers who stand at either side of hall • The catchers shout out a colour and the children will

run to the other end of the hall and get 2 or 3 beanbags that make that colour without getting hit by the balls thrown by the catchers

• If hit by the ball go to the side and be given a forfeit
