You Think Baby Boomers Are Aging - Think Again A person born during demographic Post-World War II is known as baby boomers. But the term does not have a precise definition depending on the different individual, groups or organizations point of view. The term has been popularly used based on the cultural context and together with its historical impact the term was widely accepted. Majority of the people associate kid boomers with rejection or redefinition of traditional values but some would not agree on this. In Europe and North America on the other hand baby boomer are associated with privilege because according to them during post World War II economics prosper tremendously. They are the group considered healthiest and the wealthiest among the population. They grew and think of themselves a special generation compare to those born before them. AS the baby boomers age, their cultural values and philosophy are passed on to the next generation thus it is still visible until today and is widely accepted by many. But on their retirement today, the US faces a dramatic change in the history. They are and still have a strong influence in the existing generation. The use of marijuana during their time, baby boomers are used to it thus today even in their retirement age they are still looking for it probably out of habit or maybe they are just revisiting the past. Another reason is for their health like coping with their aches and pain using this drug. The effect of aging baby economic on Medicare and social security is drastic. Almost 70 % reaches the age where they will begin to draw their government benefits like in their social security. In 2006 alone, it cost the US taxpayer about $554 Billion and still expected to increase for the years to come. As baby boomers ages and retires, almost 100% will now be constantly seen visiting with their doctors, clinics and pharmacies. This long term cost on Medicare will finally create a problem in the government. Taxes must be increase or a long term project must be presented to meet the demands on retirement benefits of baby boomers. Whatever is the plan of the government, baby economic will now reap the government benefits whether they like it or not!
