October 12, 200828th Sunday in Ordinary Time
God to enfold us, God to surround us; God in our speaking, God in our thinking;
God in our life, God on our lips; God in our souls,
God in our hearts.
Please Stand
Come and bring light to a people in darkness.
Come set us freefrom the chains we have made.
We are your people,the flock that you tend.
Lord, open our eyes once again.
GH #263 - Refrain
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, Opening to the sun above.
BH #464
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; Drive the gloom of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day.
All Thy works with joy surround Thee, Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays, Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, Flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting Bird and flowering fountain, Call us to rejoice in Thee.
Mortals, join the happy chorusWhich the morning stars began; Love divine is reigning o’er us, Joining all in heaven’s plan.
Ever singing, march we onward, Victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us sunwardIn the triumph song of life.
Please Be Seated
O God, gladly we live and move and have our being in you.
Yet always in the midst of this creation-glory, we see sin’s shadow
and feel death’s darkness:
around us in the earth, sea and sky, the abuse of matter;
beside us in the broken, the hungry and the poor, the betrayal of one
another; and often, deep within us, a striving against your Spirit.
O Trinity of love, forgive us that we may forgive one
another, heal us that we may be people of
healing, and renew us that we also may be
makers of peace.
(silent confession) Amen.

Leader: Happy are those who act with justice and always do what is right!

The Gospel
Matthew 22: 1-14
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy
Ghost. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
“RSVP - Maybe”
“… and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding robe?’
And he was speechless.”Matthew 22:12
We believe in Jesus Christ, son of the one God, maker and
sustainer of earth, sea and sky. Born of Mary’s womb, faithful to the God of Abraham and Sarah,
Jesus healed the sick, served the poor, and proclaimed heaven
and earth.
Condemned by the religious, crucified by the state, he died
but transformed even death and rose to life everlasting. He
blessed the disciples with his holy spirit and sent them forth,
east and west, north and south.
We commit ourselves to Jesus, to one another as brothers and sisters and to his mission in the
world in the grace of the holy spirit. Amen.
