FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

1. Prepare your pieces by marking the wrong side of all the square pieces along the diagonal.

2. Place a F square on one side of piece A. Sew along the marked line and trim, leaving a 1/4” seam allowance. Press toward F.. Repeat on the opposite corner with the remaining F piece and press towards F. This is the Hat unit.

3. On both B pieces, place a white G piece on the bottom, with marked lines arranged so they are mirror images of each other. Sew along marked lines, trim, and press. These are side units.

4. Gather the remaining pieces, and arrange the squares on the E pieces, with C on the bottom, and D and H in the top corners. As with step 3, arrange the squares on E pieces so that the arrangements are mirror images, and H is in the middle. Sew along marked lines, trim, and press. These are heart units.

5. Sew heart units RST, matching seams. Press seam open. This is the Heart unit.

6. Gather Hat unit, Side units, and Heart unit. Sew the side units to the heart unit, and press towards side units. Then, sew hat unit to the top of the heart unit and press toward hat unit. Block should measure 8.5” x 9”.
