Objectives HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY I

(HH/KINE 2011 3.0)

This course is a first course in Human Physiology. The focus is on basic principles of physiology from the

sub-cellular to cellular components including their functions and their mechanisms of function.

The course provides a sound basis for understanding complex multi-cellular organisms in subsequent courses.

Objectives HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY I

(HH/KINE 2011 3.0)

HH/KINE 2011 3.00 Human Physiology I

Human Physiology 1 is a three (3) credit course, three hours a week thirteen weeks (one term). It provides students with a sound basis for understanding human physiology.

The following are covered in depth: General science review, cell physiology, plasma membrane potentials, muscle physiology, neuron pathways, blood and components, and basic immunology.

All the course material is presented in lecture form with no required laboratories.

STUDENT EVALUATION:

Midterm Exam : 35% [Monday, October 18 , 2010 , covers Sept 13 to Oct 8th inclusive-4 weeks, 33% of the course] , 50 minutes

(last day to drop KINE2011 is Nov 12, 2010)

Final: 65% [Date to be announced by registrar. Cumulative] , 2.5 hours

Important: Midterm Exam is required. If you are absent please bring in your signed physician’s form, and, if in order, you will be allowed to write a 100% final. The 35% weight of the missed midterm exam will be automatically added to the final.

There are no makeup exams for the Midterm Exam for any reason. If you do not write it AND you have not an accepted valid reason, you will receive 0/40 towards the final.

The final exam is required.

1.  Exam questions will be derived from lectures, lecture material and the text book.

2. Exams may consist of multiple choice, true/false, drawings, and/or appropriate calculations.

3. Individual grades will not be bumped. Grade abnormalities may be rectified by York U.

4.  Lectures may be audio recorded by you. They will be video recorded by York (if you also record, be watchful of your recorder, they have been stolen.)
