D r s o n ~ c ~ k v ~ n ~ o ~ . - T h e Battery and it8 vicinity wae on yeeterday tho ecene of disgraceful dietur- bancea. It appeara, from the b e t evidence at our command, that a row commenced about 5 o'cldk in the afternoon, on the Battery, between dome ~ h i t e and colored boy8 who tried to amuee themiselyea by fvrmbg rlignmenta m d pelting eachlother with etonee. The entertainment, how- ever,' grew warm, and in it8 progrese enlisted the egnlpathioe of grown pereone of both clasaos, who reeorted to eticke and other ready weapon8 of offonco and defence. Tho police appeared* v e r ~ promptly on the spot and put an end to the fracae by arroeting eix or eight of tho ringleaders. The crowd then dispreod and it was thought that no fnrther dieturbance would occur. Unfortunately thie wae a mietako. Thoee of the negroea ;LO

Summoning all of the kindred epirife of the asme color and mind, who wore in thafimmediate neighborhood, and reinforced acd dirocted by some sight or ton n e w soldiere, they fumed a proccesiou of two br G e e hundred, rud diotonaly nlarchod through East Bay, Tradd, Logare and other etreete. We have heart1 of no eerioun injuriee being inflicted, although vory many bmboe were received bp the antagonbb. WHO ABB ?tbeone.-At a late Maeonio oelebra- tion, the Rev. Mr. ~ B B deolared that four qnrli- flostione were indirpensible for 8 good Mrson. Firet, he mnet be no eooffer, but mrn of a rever- ential epirit; eeoond, he muet be no dry poser, but 8 man of 8 living imagination; third, he mnet be no bigot, but a man of libbra1 mind; fourth, mnat be no selfish worldling but r man of r geno- roar heart. Whether gennino Ohristirn men, ooneirtent Amerioan citizene, have reaeon to f e u and oppoee Maeonry, or to traet rnd befriend it, the epeaker thought would a p p a r olesrlp enough from s glimpse at the ohief oharaoterietioe imper- oonated ip.ite worthy diroiplea. Theee ohara&& ietioe he illnetratad with some detail under four: horde. First, erery true aso on ie r pilgrim In eerroh of light, traveliqg toward the g o d of his 'destiny. 8eoondly, every true Maeon ia 4 warrior, flghting for innooenoe rod ohrrity against every form of evil. Thirdly, every true Maeon ie r patriot, bondd to love and eerve hie native lsnd, pledged to revere her laws m d promote her wed. Fourth- ly, every true Xaeon ie a apiritnal arbhiteot, re- quired to build r n indeetrnctible honee of ohrrao- ter out of the rude mstarisl of hie being. Uudor the rough ontwprks the moral edi5oe go80 up, littlohy liltJe, until it 18 complete. Then death teare off the eoaffolding of flmh m d Lonee, and the pure temple, not m'ado with hrndr, monntr,to God. - -
