experience to meeting peacetime needs. Continuing

to produce high-quality steel, it developed machinery

making use of this steel and endeavored to open up

1907年（明治40年）、後に日本の鉄鋼業の一大基地となる北海道室蘭市に兵器の国産化を目的として、英国二社（アームストロング社・ビッカース社）と日本一社の共同出資による国家的事業がスタートしました。これが日本製鋼所の誕生です。

In 1907, the Japanese government launched a joint venture for the purpose of domestic weapons product ion in Muroran, Hokkaido—later to become a major steel manufactur ing center—consisting of two British firms (W.G. Armstrong and Vickers) and one Japanese company. That was the birth of the Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (JSW).

横浜製作所は、室蘭製作所、広島製作所に続いて1936年

（昭和11年）横浜市金沢区泥亀町に誕生しました。以来、日

本製鋼所の中では産業用精密機械の生産を担当し、めざま

しい成果をあげてきました。

そして、1983年（昭和58年）、現在地に最新設備を備えた

工場を完成させました。1989年（平成元年）には新実験棟

の増築を行い、さらに最新鋭精密工作機械や測定機器など

を相次いで更新し、常にベストを目指した技術革新を行って

おります。

JSW Yokohama Plant was first established in 1936 in

Deiki, Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama City, following on from

the Muroran and Hiroshima Plants. The plant became the

company’s base for the manufacture of industrial

precision machinery, generating outstanding results.

Seeking to realize an even higher level of quality, JSW

moved the Yokohama Plant to its present site in 1983,

building a new plant stocked with the very latest

equipment.

The plant’s experimental facilities were expanded in

1989, and have been upgraded with the most advanced

precision machining tools and measuring equipment,

enabling the Yokohama Plant to realize its aim of

constantly producing the best products through

technological innovation.

低温poly-Si TFTフラットパネルの量産を可能にしたライン

ビームタイプのエキシマレーザーアニール（結晶化）装置で

す。多くのパネルメーカ様にご使用頂いております。

This is the line beam type Excimer Laser Annealing

Sys tem tha t enab les mass p roduc t ion o f l ow

temperature poly-Si TFT flat panel. Many panel makers

use our system.

大出力の産業用エキシマレーザーと均一なビーム成形シス

テムと高精度ステージをシステムアップし、フラットパネル

用のガラス基板上に形成されたアモルファスSi膜を低温に

てpoly-Si化する結晶化装置を提供しています。この技術

は、次世代フラットパネルとして期待されているOLEDパネ

ルやフレキシブルパネルを実現するための技術として期待

されています。

JSW provides “Excimer Laser Annealing System” with

a high-precision stage system, a high power industrial

excimer laser and a uniform line beam system for TFT

making by low temperature poly Si technology. This

technology is main ly used for smar tphone and

expected to apply to future flat panel display using

organic l ight-emitt ing diode (OLED) and Flexible

display.

Accompanying the progress of flat panel size and

近年、半導体デバイスの構造は複雑化しており、デバイスを

製作する半導体の熱処理プロセスには、表面の局所のみの

温度を上げる熱処理プロセスが必要となってきています。当

社では、こういったニーズに対応できる固体レーザーアニー

ル装置を開発し、高機能イメージセンサ分野で量産装置とし

て使われています。さらに多様なデバイスの熱処理に対応

すべく、さまざまなレーザーアニール装置の開発に取り組ん

でいます。

In recent years, semiconductor device structure has

become more complex. A heat-treatment process

requires severely controlled treatment only for certain

surface layer. JSW’s “Solid-state Laser Annealing

System” can meet such demands. I t is used for

mass-production of highperformance image sensors.

Our R&D work is aimed for various semiconductor

device applications.

Tahara Machinery Ltd. is a specialist manufacturer of

small electronically driven blow molding machine and

is well regarded in Japan for its technological level.

超伝導フィルタHTS Filter

フレキシブル有機ELディスプレイの封止膜向けに、CVD/ALD

複合装置の開発を行っています。CVD膜とALD膜を積層させ

ることにより、水蒸気バリア性能の高い封止膜を作製すること

が可能となります。この装置では、CVD成膜とALD成膜を大気

に曝すことなく、真空で連続に行うことが可能です。

We have developed CVD/ALD combined system for

encapsulation film of flexible OLED (Organic Light

Emitting Diode) display. Layered CVD and ALD made

thin film realize high barrier performance against water

v a p o r. O u r e qu ip m e n t e n a b l e s C V D a n d A L D

depositions continuously without breaking vacuum.

満たす新しい製品開発を目指しております。

ALD ChamberCVD Chamber

ELAMOD法（エキシマレーザーアシスト塗布熱分解法）を用

いて高温超伝導(HTS)薄膜を開発しました。HTS薄膜の表面

抵抗は、マイクロ波周波数帯において通常導体の表面抵抗よ

り約3桁低い値を得ています。

HTS薄膜の応用として、マイクロ波HTSフィルタは移動体通信お

よび様々なレーダーシステムにおける利用が期待されています。

A high-temperature superconducting (HTS) thin film has

been developed by applying the ELAMOD (Excimer

Laser Assisted Metal Organic Deposition) method. The

surface resistance of HTS film is lower than those of

conventional conductors by about three orders at

microwave frequency band. As application of HTS film,

microwave HTS filters are expected to use in mobile

telecommunication and various types of radar system.

レーザー微細加工装置は、ポリイミドテープ、ガラスなど

様々な材料へマイクロメータオーダで微細孔を形成するこ

とができます。この装置は、局所的な熱処理ができるため、

電子デバイスの製造にも採用されています。横浜研究所は、

本装置に最適な光学系、照射位置制御システムを開発し、

産業界の要望に応えられる技術の蓄積を進めています。

Laser Micro Processing systems can make fine holes

for various materials such as polyimide tape, glass and

others. This system is also able to anneal for local

posit ion and is adopted in mass product ion for

electronic device. Yokohama Research Laboratory has

been developing optics systems and work positioning

control systems for laser process to meet industrial

request.

フレキシブルディスプレイは、薄くて軽い、曲げられる、そして

割れないと言う優れたメリットがあります。このフレキシブル

ディスプレイはガラス基板上で形成後、そのディスプレイをガ

ラスから剥離することで作られます。横浜研究所では、大型基

板（G6）に対応したレーザー剥離装置(Laser Lift Off装置)の

開発を進めています。

A flexible display have excellent merits as “thin and

light”, ” bendable” and “not broken”. This flexible display

is fabricated on a thin glass substrate and the display is
