HIGHLIGHTS
No new confirmed cases reported today
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state remains sixty-three (63)
Total number of patients who recovered and got discharged from the isolation centers is fifty-one (51)
Yobe SMOH and SPHCMB, in collaboration with partners, conducted high-level advocacy to Bade,
Tarmuwa, and Machina LGA emirate councils to sensitize district and traditional leaders, as well as the
community members on COVID-19 prevention.
EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SUMMARY:
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 case(s) is sixty-three (63): Twenty-two (22) cases from
Damaturu, sixteen (16) cases from Nguru, thirteen (13) cases from Bade, three (3) cases from Potiskum,
and one (1) case each from 9 LGAs (Geidam, Karasuwa, Yusufari, Tarmuwa, Bursari, Fika, Fune,
Gulani, and Gujba)
Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 amongst Health Care Workers (HCWs) is fourteen (14). They
include seven (7) nurses, five (5) doctors, one (1) physiotherapist, and one (1) laboratory scientist
The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in the state is eight (8)
Total number of patients who recovered and got discharged from the isolation centers is fifty-one (51)
The total number of active confirmed cases in the state is four (4). They are all in stable condition
The total number of contacts who completed 14 days of monitoring without symptoms is six hundred
and twenty-seven (627)
The total number of samples collected is two hundred and twenty-nine (229). Sixty-three (63) results are
positive, one hundred and twenty-five (125) are negative, forty-one (41) for a repeat test.

THEMATIC INTERVENTIONS
Coordination:
Conducted COVID-19 response coordination meeting with partners and stakeholders
Supported State and LGA level implementation of COVID-19 response activities.
Surveillance and Epidemiology:
Conducted monitoring of thirty-four (34) contacts in high-burden LGAs
Conducted ACS in high-burden LGAs in collaboration with LGA RRTs.
Point of Entry (POE):
Conducted screening of truckers and their passenger at Potiskum, Yusufari, Nangere, Bade and Nguru
LGA POEs
Conducted supportive supervision of the POE teams in Damaturu and Nguru LGAs.
Case Management:
The three (3) active confirmed cases in the state are in stable condition
Infection Prevention and Control (IPC):
Conducted supportive supervision on the use of face-masks and other COVID-19 preventive measures
amongst health care workers in Gwange and Nayinawa PHCs of Damaturu LGAs
Yobe SMOH distributed COVID-19 PPEs and IEC materials in Gwange and Nayinawa PHCs.
Laboratory and Diagnostic Support:
The total number of samples collected is two hundred and twenty-nine (229). Sixty-three (63) results are
positive, one hundred and twenty-five (125) are negative, forty-one (41) for a repeat test.
Risk Communication and Social Mobilization:
The SPHCMB, with support from the WHO Communications team and CGPP, conducted community
sensitization and motorized campaign on COVID-19 prevention in remote communities of Bade, Nguru,
Damaturu, and Potiskum LGAs
Continued house to house sensitization by VCMs, EHAs, NYCSRF and HTR teams
Yobe SMOH and SPHCMB, in collaboration with partners, conducted high-level advocacy to Bade,
Tarmuwa, and Machina LGA emirate councils to sensitize district and traditional leaders, as well as the
community members on COVID-19 prevention.

Logistics and Operational Support:
Distributed COVID-19 commodities to Gwange and Nayinawa PHCs
Developed a distribution plan for the COVID-19 commodities received from WHO.
CHALLENGES:
Insecurity and military operations are limiting contact tracing, active case search and community
sensitization in security-compromised LGAs
Inadequate WASH and waste disposal equipment in the affected LGAs.
NEXT STEP(S):
Mobilize and distribute PPEs to health facilities and isolation centers
Continue motorized campaigns in high-burden LGAs.
