Invitation to Young Inventor Competition 2015 – Paratrooper Force

On behalf of the Young Inventor Competition 2015 Organizing Committee, your students are cordially invited to the

Young Inventor Competition 2015.

The Young Inventor Competition is an annual joint project hosted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers

(HK Section), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (Hong Kong Branch) and the Mechanical, Marine, Naval

Architecture and Chemical (MMNC) Division of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. This year would be its 9th

competition. The objectives of this project is to encourage youngsters to apply creativity, knowledge in science and

problem-solving skills to accomplish the challenges which can help develop their sense of interest in engineering

and science. In this year’s competition, students are required to form a team to design and build a Paratroop Force

using knowledge in mechanics and fluid dynamics. The competition date would be 7 March 2015 (Saturday).

The Young Inventor Competition has been hugely successful in the past thanks to keen interest and support

received from teachers and students. A briefing session will be conducted by Ir K K LO to introduce the competition

and explains related regulations; which would be useful for teachers and students who are interested in this event.

Details of the briefing session are:

Date： 13 December 2014 (Saturday)

Time： 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Venue： Lecture Theater N001, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Note: Please attend this briefing session as critical parts for the competition will be supplied on that day.

Ir LO will explain the basic mechanical theory required while parts and objects will be used for demonstration

purposes during the briefing session. We would sincerely invite those who wish to take part in Young Inventor

Competition 2015 to attend this briefing session.
