pobble picture. Think carefully about the correct punctuation. Write your story and read it out
to a member of your family. Can you record it for Class Dojo?
Chris and Tom had always loved playing Subbuteo at home in their attic room. However, their game of
Subbuteo was a bit more exciting than the version you’ll see in most houses. Their game of Subbuteo…
Can you continue the story and the description of their game?
How is Chris and Tom’s game different to other versions? What is your favourite game to play at home/at school?
Why is football referred to as the great game?
How do you think the games children play have changed over history?
Write an acrostic poem about your favourite sport. You did one of these with your names just
after Easter. See if you can use adjectives on each line of your poem to make it even more
interesting.
Has your child got a favourite sportsperson? This could be a dance teacher or a football
coach? Write an information booklet about this person. Think of questions they would love to
ask their favourite athlete. They could write a list of ‘why’, ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘where’ and ‘how’
questions. Act out with a grown up – one person could be the sportsperson and one person could
be the interviewer.
Alphabetical order: List each letter of the alphabet and think of a sport related word that
corresponds with each letter of the alphabet.
Other subjects:
PE - Obstacle Course Fun- Task your child with designing and making their very own obstacle course in
the garden. Ask them to draw and label their design first and include all of the equipment they need.
They can then use their design to create their obstacle course. Ask the family to complete the
obstacle course whilst your child times them. Your child could even make medals from tin-foil or any
other suitable material and present them to the winner during a winner’s ceremony. Could they make an
obstacle course for a pet? This task will be done at home, not school.
What can your body do? Balance on one leg? Touch your nose with your tongue? Look at the body
challenge cards and see how many you can do. Ask your family to join in and make your own body
challenge cards.
PSHE - Powerful Paralympians - You could explore diversity in sport with your child. Ask your child to
find out about the Paralympic games and famous Paralympians such as Ellie Simmonds. How have these
people overcome challenges to represent their country in their chosen sport? They could write a
letter/email to a chosen athlete and ask them questions about their sporting journey. Or they could
draw a detailed sketch of the athlete during a winning moment.
Art/D&T - Terrific Team Kits- Ask your child to design their very own team kit. They should consider
the flag of the country that they would represent and how to incorporate these colours into the
design. They could draw the design with a pencil or use a computer program to do this.
Maths - Encourage your child to play this NRICH activity to develop their understanding of positional
language. https://nrich.maths.org/234/index. Children to work outside with a partner – one being the
robot and one being the instructor. Direct partner. Eg. forwards, backwards, whole turn, clockwise,
anticlockwise.
Picture News
Please think about these questions and share on
ClassDojo.
Things to talk about at home… Talk about where you live, what do you like about it? Is there anything you would change?
Would you like to live in architect, Luca Curci’s, city? What are the positives about the project?
What would your dream house look like? What features would it have?
An Italian architect is planning a city of
skyscrapers! Luca Curci said that he
wanted to build four
self-sufficient, interconnected towers
with trees, wildlife and farms.
He claimed that his buildings, for
200,000 people, would be the best way
to tackle population
growth, pollution and poverty. He says
his project, The Link, could save the
world and halt urban
sprawl. He says, “We need a sustainable
vision, my towers are designed to
encourage a sense of
community.”
Please use the Zones of Regulation to discuss your children’s feelings and your own.
