Oleg Wasynczuk Oleg Wasynczuk received a B.S.E.E. degree from Bradley University in 1976, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph. D. degrees from Purdue University in 1977 and 1979, respectively. Currently, he is a professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University and Chief Technical Officer of PC Krause and Associates. His research areas of interest include power system dynamics and control, and the analysis and design of electromechani-cal devices and systems. He is past Chair of the Generator Subcommittee of the IEEE. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and recipient of the 2008 Cyril Veinott Electromechanical Energy Conversion Award. He has authored or co-authored over 100 technical papers, an undergraduate textbook entitled Electromechani-cal Motion Devices, and a graduate-level textbook entitled Analysis of Electric Machinery, both published by IEEE press.

Manoj Shah received his B. Tech. (Honors) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, and his MSEE and Ph. D. from Virginia Tech. He worked for Westinghouse Elec-tric (now Siemens) and later joined GE after a short stint at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1981. He career has includ-

ed aviation and naval electrical systems, electromagnetic launchers, and large turbine-generators. His recent tenure at GE’s Research Center in upstate New York has centered on developing advanced electrical machines and devices em-ploying novel topologies in concert with use of the latest materials (magnetic, non-magnetic, metals, non-metals, composites, HTS, etc.) and cooling tech-nologies for various GE businesses ranging from aviation to power generation to geothermal to oil and gas to transportation. He has 53 US and many for-eign patents along with over 40 publications—a couple received Prize Paper awards. He was made IEEE Fellow in 2003 and received the 2012 IEEE Nikola Tesla award for Advancements in Electromagnetic Design and Analysis of Electrical Machines. In early 2013, he received the 2012 Coolidge Fellowship Award, the highest research award in GE.

Donald J. Morrow, P.E., Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Quanta Technology, has more than 31 years of utility and consulting experience. operations, transmission operations, energy trading, maintenance scheduling, operator training, protection, distribution operations, energy management systems, and natural gas dispatch. He is a nationally recognized expert in trans-mission planning processes. Since joining Quanta Technology (QT) in 2006 to develop the transmis-sion practice, Don has led projects in the development of transmission master plans, identifying strategic approaches for engaging construction contractors on transmission projects, implementing Electric Reliability Organization com-pliance processes, and establishing North American Electric Reliability Corpo-ration-compliant system restoration plans. He currently oversees corporate strategy which identifies emerging needs within the electric power sector, pro-vides input into the development of new service offerings, and identifies the talent gaps necessary to meet QT’s technical needs across all service areas. Prior to joining Quanta Technology, he was Director of System Planning and Protection at American Transmission Company (ATC), a for-profit, stand-alone transmission company in the upper Midwest. He also served as the Director of System Operations at ATC. In that role, Don was responsible for forming the system operations department during ATC’s start-up. Don received his BSEE and MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a registered professional engineer in the states of Wisconsin and Arkansas.
