connect thru cancer is a 501c3 non-profit organization

Dear Friends,

It is with great excitement that in this, our inaugural “Year in Review 2018-2019”, I am announcing our organization’s

new name, logo and expanded mission! “Connect Thru Cancer” is our new identity and we are confident that this

change not only mirrors who we are and what we do, but reflects what our mission has evolved from since our

founding as Cuddle My Kids in 2007. In this Review you will see testimonials, highlights with regard to community

outreach and involvement, measurables sharing our accomplishments, our growth and expanded reach, and of

course, our goals for the future.

Every year we are in awe of the people we are blessed to assist during their cancer journey. Our programs continue

to increase the quality of life for both the cancer patient and their families. We understand the impact a cancer

diagnosis has on every family member and we aim to provide support for each person in some unique way. YOU

are the reason we are able to provide and fill these needs for those in treatment.

Our significant growth in the past year alone, in both programs and staff, was made possible by the unwavering

support of our generous donors. Whether you are one of our sponsors, have been a guest at one of our events,

someone who has hosted an event for us, or a volunteer, we are so grateful to have you as part of our organization.

It is because of you that we have been able to grow and continue to expand our reach year after year!

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, thank you for supporting Connect Thru Cancer and the

families we serve and making their battle a little more manageable.

In health & happiness,Colleen Bucci | Executive Director

Mikey Zabeli (Ovarian Cancer) client, in-home program

In March of 2019, after my cervical cancer

had spread, Connect Thru Cancer came to the

rescue. They showed up to my home, fully

stocked with games activities, arts & crafts and

ready to play with my two year-old son so that

I could rest after treatment. I can’t adequately

put into words what Connect Thru Cancer

has done for me physically, emotionally, and

spiritually. Thank you Connect Thru Cancer for

every single thing you do!

I had heard about Connect Thru Cancer and

their cancer support services from several

people in the medical field. So, in July of 2018,

I reached out for help with my kids while I

was recovering from Chemo and surgery. Not

only did my children enjoy the play time and

one-on-one attention, it gave my caregivers a

break as well. The organization is amazing, the

volunteers are so sweet and made us feel like

a normal family during a very difficult time.

mothers and fathers reported that,

after a cancer diagnosis, they

were unable to meet their

children’s needs as well as

before the illness.

Jodi Reich, (Daughter with Leukemia) client, in-home program

My daughter Phoebe was diagnosed with

Leukemia in August of 2018 and we started

with Connect Thru Cancer the following June.

The thing I sometimes need most these days

is time, and Phoebe needs attention that is not

related to her cancer. The In-Home program

gave us that and much more. Not only did

they address Phoebe’s and my needs, they

took my older daughter Talya’s emotional and

mental well-being into account as well, and

provided tickets to Hershey Park. Having a spe-

cial day was just what Talya needed! Connect

Thru Cancer was interested in supporting our

entire family, which was incredible!

I was first introduced to Connect Thru Cancer

in 2015 when I was diagnosed with Colon

cancer. A hospital social worker delivered

thoughtfully prepared Busy Bags to each of my

five children. Since then, Connect Thru Cancer

has enabled us to engage in fun activities

together as a family that have nothing to do

with cancer. The weekend Cancer Connect

programs allow us to step away from the

rigorous routine of busy family life and

Chemotherapy treatments to enjoy our time

Eileen McCann volunteer, in-home program

I joined Connect Thru Cancer in 2016 when

a friend told me about her experience as a

volunteer. As soon as I met the program

directors, I knew I wanted to be a part of this

unique organization. As a preschool teacher,

I really enjoy the In-Home visits and more

importantly, giving the parents a rest. The

children are always so happy to see us and

enjoy playing games and doing arts and

crafts. Every In-Home visit has meant so much

to me, and seeing the joy on the children’s

faces when we come in the door is priceless.

Connect Thru Cancer lets clients know they are

not alone in their battle, and that we are there

to provide support. I am truly honored to be a

part of Connect Thru Cancer!

Ruth Mary Strohm hospital social worker

I first heard about Connect Thru Cancer 12

years ago when their Nurse Navigator came

to Bryn Mawr Hospital to inform the Oncology

staff about their programs. Ever since then,

our patients have benefited greatly from this

wonderful resource for individuals and families

going through the stress of a cancer diagnosis

and treatment. Families have been so grateful

for in-home, creative and nurturing play with

their children, soothing and comforting well-

ness programs, journaling and art therapies,

and activities for families to get together with

other families in treatment and have fun unre-

lated to cancer. It has been a pleasure to work

with Connect Thru Cancer’s caring, committed,

and professional staff. Their responsiveness is

so immediate, and their services are free and

ever-expanding. Kudos to Connect Thru Cancer!
