The Engine Room - Celebrating Ten Years Photography Competition

Somerset Film is a registered charity and social enterprise, which managesThe Engine Room, a community media centre in Bridgwater High Street. InMarch 2013 the centre will mark its tenth anniversary.

The Brief

Somerset Film are looking for images that tell the story of The Engine Roomand celebrate all that it offers - this could be the people, facilities,activities or what it is trying to achieve - in it's tenth anniversary year.

Entrants must provide a minimum of two images (with a title of your ownchoice) and will be judged in the following categories:

1. Overall Images2. Technical ability3. Use of photo manipulation

About The Engine RoomThe Engine Room is located in Bridgwater High Street. At the very front of the building it has a café, which is open to the general public and provides internet access. Inside we have a studio, which is licensed as a cinema, where we screen films made by local filmmakers and host a variety of other activities including courses in all things creative technology and drop ins, where members of the public can use the equipment and software free of charge.The Engine Room is also the home and base for the charity Somerset

Film and the projects it undertakes across the county such as Family Connections, Ignite Somerset, JUMPcuts as well radio, archive and training initiatives.

We are passionate about moving image (film) and digital technology and our aim is to enable individuals and community groups / organisations to be creative and to have a voice.

The winner and runner-up in each category will be printed and publicly displayed at The Engine Room, and every entry will be featured digitally on our screens in the café.

The judging panel will consist of a member of The Engine Room team, professional photographer Richard Tomlinson and a trustee of the charity.
