This presentation will be available via the school website from today, along with a copy of the Options Booklet and the Options Form.

The purpose of this presentation:
To introduce Woking High School’s KS4 curriculum
for 2016-18
To explain the Options process
To inform you about the range of courses on offer
To answer any questions that you may have

Key Stage Four Curriculum
What will students be studying?
• Compulsory Subjects
– English – GCSE Language, Literature 8 hours
– Mathematics 8 hours
– Science (Double or Triple) 10 hours or 12
Key Stage Four Curriculum
- Able Mathematicians will be offered the chance to study GCSE Statistics and a Further Maths qualification
- All students will study an IT course at Key Stage Four
- Students will also follow a course of Recreational PE lessons, these will be non-examined
Key Stage Four Curriculum
• Option subjects – 21 courses offered
– Six hours allocated to each subject
– Three groups of subjects
– You choose THREE subjects in total
– ONE from each group
NEA (Non-examined assessments)
• Internally assessed
• Externally moderated
What are Technical Awards? • Vocational leaning qualifications • Worth the same as a GCSE • 25% - 50% Exam • Provide a different type of qualification and a
different type of course which may be better for you!
• Very clear progression routes from Level 2 to Level 3 (post 16)
