Year 6 Maths at RCC• On entry all pupils take a test to help
with setting.
• All pupils placed in 1 of 5 groups.
• All pupils follow the National Curriculum at a level appropriate to their ability.
• All pupils are prepared for the SATS in May
• All pupils are given a target level in October. This is based on their entry test, CATs scores and Year 5 data .

Key Stage 2 Maths SATS
Mental arithmetic - 20%
Paper 1 – - 40% - non calculator
Paper 2 - 40% - non calculator
Level 3 to 5 – all pupils are entered
Level 6 – A small group entered from Set 1 based on evidence
Paper 1 – non calculator – 50 %
Paper 2 – calculator paper – 50 %
Preparation at Rydon• Mental Monday – a past mental test every week.
• Look at past papers and talk through these and try some questions.
• Pupils will have completed 3 full SATS papers by beginning of March.
• Pick up difficult areas, for example: word problems and written explanation answers.
• Booster classes
Revision at home
Targeted Study Books
Mental Maths problems…how much, measure
Past Papers on Moodle or printed from the Web.
Useful websites – mymaths, BBC Bitesize
APPs – There are several that target KS2 Maths
Possible use of The Student Support Centre. (Letters home on Monday)
