Putting it together...How to make your own comic book
Draft out your plot in 8 parts on scrap paper.
Watch this clip from a
1960s Batman episode to
see how onomatopoeia
works in a superhero
story.
Task:
• Either use the printable on the next page, create your own using a ruler or use an app on a device to create your comic book strip.
• Plan out how you will tell each part of the story in each ‘frame’
• Remember to include onomatopoeia and have a clear plot with occasional boxes explaining changes in location.
• Your comic strip can be as detailed or long as you choose use the WAGOLL to help you.

What is a POW-WOW?Every week, I will set you a POW-WOW task. This stands for Power of Words, Wonder of Words. It’s basically a piece of writing where you have creative control – you can write whatever genre you like with whatever features you like. But you should be including the Year 6 spelling and punctuation requirements!
Today you could write:• You could choose to carry on your comic strip from yesterday. • You could write a traditional story about a superhero. Maybe your superhero is a
bit different or you just prefer to write than draw. • You could choose to write a poem about your superhero or maybe a ‘theme
song’. • You could write a ‘to-do’ list for your super-villain – this should tell the reader all
about their character.
