Principal’s Message Welcome everyone to Week 8 of the term. At this time of year we are getting ready for presentation days, farewells, finalising reports and forming classes for next year. This certainly doesn’t mean that we aren’t focussed on our core business of learning for all students. Early this week I was able to spend time in a few of our classrooms and was again impressed by how hard the students were working. This tells me that their teachers are very organised and delivering lessons that are engaging AND educational. Last week, I was in Sydney at the final Primary Principal’s state meeting for the year. Unfortunately I missed the presentation morning for Year 2. It is sad for me to miss these special days however I have been told that the morning was a wonderful celebration of the work and achievements of our students throughout the year. Congratulations to all of our magnificent students. This was followed up by the annual Year 2 sleepover, my favourite overnight stay. Thanks so much to Mrs Trasler, Mrs Morris, Mrs Ryan, Miss Elliot and Mr Holt who supervised the students and kept them entertained throughout the sleep over. I heard that they had a great time too. I am very much looking forward to this week’s Year 1 Presentation Day and the upcoming Kindergarten Presentation Day next Friday. Also, we have our final PBL assembly in 2 weeks time where we will be celebrating the efforts of all our most recent award winners. I have also been made aware that there are several Platinum winners waiting for their highly prized certificates and reward. A huge thank you to Neville Sampson and his helpers for creating this wonderful bush tucker garden. Neville is doing a fantastic job in selecting plants and the designs are amazing. If you are available to pop in and take a look or lend a hand you’re more than welcome. I would like to wish you all a wonderful week and hope that we are able to see you at these upcoming events. Have a magnificent week everyone. Books in Homes The teachers of Oxley Vale Public School encourage the reading of quality literature in their classrooms and expose their students to many such texts every year. In an effort to extend our love of reading and quality texts we have applied for sponsorship and inclusion in the ‘Books in Homes’ program. We have been very fortunate in being selected for sponsorship by ‘With Heart’, a Gloria Jean’s Foundation. They have offered to sponsor 100 Oxley Vale Public School students at $90 per student. The students of Year 1 and Year 3 have already seen the texts they will be able to choose from and have selected 4 texts each. They will receive 3 books each from the 4 they have selected and these will be presented at a book giving assembly on Wednesday 9 December starting at 2pm in the school hall. All parents are very welcome so come along and join in the fun. The books that the students select from are sent to the school for them to view prior to making their choices and are then donated to the school library for everyone to enjoy. We are most appreciative of these additions to our library and look forward to sharing them with all the students. A number of beautiful books have also been supplied as book awards and will be awarded to students at our weekly assemblies. Our school librarian Mrs Burke is on the lookout for students deserving of a book award and our first book award winners are: Imogen Deswon - KM Will Lulham - 1J Lucy Griffiths - 3R Latesha Butler - 4E

Josiah Kranenburg - 6L

Chloe Dimer - 5/6S

K/1C wrote about what hap-

pened when Goldilocks came to their house: One day Goldilocks came into my house when I took my Dad to work. She ate everything. She sat on everything. She broke my Tv. She even slept on my bed. When I got home she was still sleeping. Yr 1 ~ Ryan I went to pick Dad up and Goldilocks went into my house. She ate my porridge. Kinder ~ Hayden . Goldilocks should not go into other people’s houses to steal people’s food and sleep in other people’s bed. Yr 1 ~ Leon Goldilocks came into my house and ate my weetbix in my bowl when me and my family went to Canada. She broke my trophy and it shattered all over the ground. She went in my bed. I came in and there was no more weetbix in my bowl and I hurt my foot because the trophy shattered. Aaaaaaah! Goldilocks is in my bed. Yr 1 ~ Levi
