Dear Parents/Carers, We are sorry that we will not see you this week, but we hope you and your families are staying safe and well. Here you will find a plan for your home learning. To help you support your child’s learning, we have set enough tasks to be completed one a day by your child. This reflects the learning that is continuing to take place in school. R Time We are still learning about money, can you set up a shop or even a bakery like the one on Pudding Lane (before it burnt down). Don’t forget to use your manners when you are pretending to be the customer or the shop keeper. Always remember to look at the person you are talking to. Maths link- can you give your customer the correct change.

Wellbeing We all have to look after ourselves, not just because of the current situation but all the time. Care for your body AND your mind. Talking to your children is so important. It can help them in all areas of their learning. Please visit National Literacy Trust ‘Words for Life’ for more information and ideas: https://wordsforlife.org.uk/ Play a listening and speaking game like ‘I went to the supermarket and I bought’. Take turns repeating the list and adding on a new item. You could change it to ‘for Christmas I would like.’

Read every day!

Reading every day is the key to your childs success. If you have your school reading books with you please practise reading them. Don’t forget reading them more than once helps confidence and reading for fluency. Everyone should now have their own login details to access the Collins Big Cat website. Teachers assign books to your child according to where they are on the book bands in school.

This week we are looking at newspaper articles. Can you find a newspaper article and

This is Samuel Pepys. He was an eye witness for The Great Fire of London. We know about what happened in London because of all the details he wrote in his diary. Can you write a quote from him in your newspaper article?

In year 2 we are developing our editing skills to improve our standard of writing. To edit your work use a different colour pencil to add detail, correct incorrect

spellings, add missing punctuation to your Samuel Pepys diary writing. Always read it back and ask yourself ‘does it makes sense?’ ‘Can I reach for the stars and make it even better in any way?’
