GCSE grades A* to U no longer exist for the majority of subjects
NON EXAMINED ASSESSMENTS (NEAs)

GCSE MATHEMATICS
AQA GCSE MATHS
➢ GCSE with grades 9 to 1
➢ All exams in summer 2021
➢ Three 1 hour 30 minute papers
➢ One paper without a calculator
➢ All students entered for Higher Level
MATHS SETTING
• Students split into two bands (M & N) depending on
option choices
• Within each band split into 3 sets
• All sets do Higher GCSE (AQA 8300)
• Sets 1 and 2 also study Level 2 Certificate in Further
Mathematics
• All students who get a grade 7 or above can go on to
study A Level Mathematics at AHS

Each exam worth 100 marks and constitutes 50% of the GCSE
Each paper covers a different range of topics and contains a mixture of multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open questions
All exams taken at the end of Year 11, resulting in a grade from 9-1Foundation Tier (grades 5 to 1)

PRACTICAL ENDORSEMENT
➢ Students must complete 7 or 8 Required Practicals in each separate Science
➢ Required Practicals take place in lessons as a standard part of the curriculum
➢ Pupils complete practical write-ups and AHS must satisfy AQA that pupils have completed each task
➢ Although not a graded unit, it is a pre-requisite for being awarded the GCSE
