About YDC
YDC is a private, non-profit and non partisan organization that seeks to cultivate entrepreneurial and leadership qualities and skills in Hong Kong, particularly among young people.
Our Mission
To nurture entrepreneurial development and to help build a society that will benefit widely from the culture and qualities associated with the entrepreneurial spirit.
Timeline of Major Events
1998 Young Entrepreneurs Development Council was founded
1999 Started Entrepreneurial Workshops at local universities
2000 Launched 1st YDC E-Challenge Business Plan Competition in conjunction with Stanford University’s E-Challenge
2002 Proposed “Adopt-A-School” concept to the Education & Manpower Bureau and the Secondary School Councils,
the idea behind School-Company Partnership (SCP)
2003 Launched the School-Company Partnership pilot program - 9 companies and schools successfully
completed the pilot during the SARS period
2003-2004 22 companies and schools completed the first SCP
2004-2005 2nd Year of SCP with new, updated program content
What are students lacking?
A strong character marked by integrity and self-esteem

What students should gain from the SCP?

Criteria for recruiting students
S.5 to S.7 are welcome to join, preferably on a voluntary basis
Optimum size is 20 to 35 students
Prior to sign up, students should understand the benefits and the contents of the program
Students should also know their expected commitment and responsibilities before joining
Responsibilities of the Students Get to know the Company and the Company Ambassadors well
Honor the “Learning Contract” prepared during the Orientation
Participate fully in each SCP activity
Make a sustained effort to work on exercises, research and other tasks assigned by the Company Ambassadors
Provide on-going feedback either to the Teacher Advisor or the Program Monitor during the program
Participate in the debriefing session organized by the Program Monitor and share personal reflections and observations of the program with the Program Monitor

– Career planning, goal setting workshop Quality of Entrepreneurship
– How to practice entrepreneurship as a student Mindset Presentation
– Discover the Entrepreneurial Mindset through understanding of a corporate mindset and role play
