V alley village Xirokampi is a small private location that situates near two uninhabited

islets off the coast of western Crete island. All area have a olivetree valley view to the

sea and to the Agios Theodoro nature reserve islets. Although the area is close to the

Chanion-Kissamou motorway and Kolpos Chanion bay, Xirokampi location is a agricul-

ture area with grape arbor and citrous plantation.

The closest Pyrgos Psilonerou beach with sea turtle nesting area and Platanias beach locates 5 minute

distance from Xirokampi village. Closest to Xirokampi is also Platanias small resort with yacht harbour,

cafes, tavernas and nightclubs, that have exellent reputation in traditional local cuisine.

The cave has to all appearances been

inhabited since Neolithic time, as

potsherds from that time until the

Roman time have been found.

Xirokampi, as mainly a rich

agricultural area is still nicely privat

place from Platanias cosmopolitan

touristic resort. But the Platanias

4 kiometers of the white shining sandy

beaches, have given to beach for 7 years

in the row, the blue flag, a hallmark of

quality of EEC for clear and organized

beaches. The area offers also the

evergreens, the orange groves and

exotic bamboo along the riverbanks,

that draw visitors.

According to the tradition, on the rock

of Platania, was the ancient city of

Pergamos and Agamemnona’s tomb.

flora and fauna, and aged plane trees

growing among ivy and wild vines.The
