2. IntroductionThe XiLog+ sensor is a key component in the Grundfos Demand Driven Distribution system.
The sensor logs the water pressure at the consumer’s property and sends a report to the CU 354 controller controlling the booster pumps that deliver the water.
The sensor has a built-in GSM 2G antenna and must be installed close to the main pipe where there is access to a GSM network. We recommend that you run a signal strength test before installing the sensor, see section 6. Signal test on page 10.

Read this document before installing the product. Installation and operation must comply with local regulations and accepted codes of good practice.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

4.1 Installing the SIM card
Procedure
1. Insert the SIM card into a mobile phone.
2. Remove the PIN code from the SIM card.
3. Remove the small metal plate on the bottom of the XiLog+ sensor.

4. Press the yellow button to release the holder.
5. Remove the SIM card holder with a screwdriver.

6. Insert the SIM card into the holder.

7. Insert the holder with the SIM card into the sensor.
8. Fit the metal plate again and tighten the screws.
4.2 Installing the sensor
1. Find a suitable location for the sensor, typically in a pit or close to the main pipe.
2. Check the signal strength at the site with your mobile phone.
3. Mount the metal bracket.

A SIM card is required for each sensor in the system.

The flex hose between the main pipe and the sensor will not have any flow, and is therefore susceptible to freezing.
The sensor will be damaged if exposed to freezing water.

4. Slide the sensor onto the bracket.

5. Connect the flexible hose to the sensor.

6. Install the quick-fitting coupling (see fig. 7) on the top of the main pipe.

7. The flexible hose will be connected to the quick-fitting coupling after you have performed an Auto zero using the Fast Track program.

4.3 Connecting the sensor
1. Check that the XiLog + Fast Track program is installed on your PC. If not, use the USB stick to install the software on your PC.
2. Establish a connection between the sensor and your PC using the data cable (Grundfos product number 98486261, not supplied with the product).
3. Remove the protective cover from the data cable.

4. Connect the data cable.

5. Connect the USB plug of the data cable to your PC.

5. Setting up the sensor
1. Start the XiLog+ Fast Track program on your PC, and make sure the sensor is connected. Your screen should look like this:

Before you begin, load the setting currently set in the sensor.
2. Click [Load Config].

The sensor is now ready to receive new input.
When you start this procedure, the sensor leaves freight mode and becomes active.
If you need to change the GSM frequency band, use the GPRSconfig.exe file on the USB stick.
The Fast Track program changes the PC’s time to match the sensor’s when connected. Ensure that the time on your computer and the CU 354 controller are synchronised.

3. Adjust the following parameters:
• Phone number
• Choose SMS transmission
• Host number for the CU 354
• Units for "bar"
• Interval of 15 minutes.
See explanation below.

Do not change the units to "meter", as the CU 354 operates in "bar".
If you use decimals for setting the low threshold, your computer settings need to meet the requirements.
Ensure decimals are changed to "." in your region and language settings on your pc.

When the sensor has been set up, a live data feed will be available.
If you install the sensor in high altitude areas, you have to use the [Auto Zero] function to zero the sensor. The pressure will affect the sensor as it measures absolute pressure.
The sensor must be removed from the system pressure before using the auto zero function.

4. Click [Finish] to terminate the connection with the sensor and unplug the sensor.Do not forget to fit the protective cover for the data cable.

6. Signal testTo run a signal strength test, start the XiLog+ Fast Track program on your PC, and connect the sensor via the data cable.
1. Click [Signal Strength] in the main menu to access the signal strength test.

2. To start the test, click [All Networks] and select "Run Test".
3. To test the signal from the SIM card provider, click [Current Signal] and select [Run Test].Do not move the sensor while the test is being performed. Wait for the test results to appear on the screen.

For proper GSM connection, the signal strength must be above 21 %.
4. Click [X] to close the test.

7. Setting the CU 354Set the sensors from the CU 354 or use the PC tool.
For further information, see the installation and operating instructions for the CU 354.
7.1 How to use the CU 354
1. Go to 4.3.25, "Remote sensors".

2. Enter the phone number for the CU 354 DDD controller and remember the country code; use "+" instead of "00".
3. Set the number of sensors installed, in this example, there are five sensors.
4. Scroll down to the first sensor, and press [OK].

5. Select sensor "Enabled".
6. Select the sensor type Primayer XiLog+.
7. Enter the name of the sensor. We recommend that you use the same name that was given via XiLog+ Fast Track.
8. Enter the phone number of the sensor as "+" followed by the country code and the local number.
9. Set the setpoint at the sensor’s position. This will be the minimum pressure setpoint that the CU 354 controller will try to maintain.
10. Enable the sensor alarms and set a minimum pressure. This allows the sensor to send a warning message if the pressure becomes too low.
11. Scroll down to "Press [OK] to send configuration", and press [OK].
12. Latest response indicates when the latest data were received. This field will be empty until the first data are received. This may take up to 24 hours.
13. Repeat this process with the number of installed sensors. The CU 354 has now been set up to communicate with all remote sensors.

9. DisposalThis product or parts of it must be disposed of in an environmentally sound way:
1. Use the public or private waste collection service.
2. If this is not possible, contact the nearest Grundfos company or service workshop.
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on a product means that it must be disposed of separately from household waste. When a product marked with this symbol reaches its end of life, take it to a collection point designated by the local
waste disposal authorities. The separate collection and recycling of such products will help protect the environment and human health.
