6) Explain accrual basis of accounting? Give one transaction to show the effect of accrual basis of accounting.

7) Journalise the following transactions:

(a) A machine was purchased for Rs. 40,000 and 40% cash was given from personal accounts and furniture (personal) was also given for 20% of the value of the machine and the balance was paid through current account.(b) A debtor was paid Rs. 4,000 (being Rs.1,000 less to the 25% of total debtors). Remaining were given a machine at 50% discount.

8) Differentiate between Reserve and Provision on the basis of legality, purpose, placement and investment.

9) Prepare Machine Account:

Machine at the end of the year 2016-17 Rs. 8,00,000. Machine at the end of the year 2017-18Rs. 9,00,000

During the year 2017-18 the machine was sold at a loss of 5% for Rs. 1,71,000 and on it depreciation was charged at 10% p.a.

10) Prepare bank reconciliation Statement as on 31st December 2014.

i) Credit balance of the cash book Rs. 17,800.ii) Cheques of Rs. 21,600 were issued in the last week of December but of Rs. 14,800

only were presented for payment.iii) Cheques of Rs. 10,750 were presented in Bank. Out of them a cheque of Rs. 4,200

was credited in the first week of January, 2013.iv) A cheque of Rs. 1,200 was debited in the cash book but was not presented in bank.v) Insurance premium paid by the bank Rs. 1,450.

11) ManavEngg. Works purchased a machinery on 1st April 2012 for Rs. 1,80,000 and spent Rs. 20,000 on its installation. On 1st January 2013 it purchases another machinery for Rs. 2,40,000. On 1st July 2014 the machinery purchased on 1st April 2012 was sold for Rs. 1,45,000. on 1st October 2014 another machine was purchased for Rs. 4,00,000. Prepare Machinery Account for the two years after charging depreciation @10% p.a. by diminishing balance method if accounts are closed on 31st December every year.

12) On 1st August 2012 Shruti sold goods to Palak for Rs. 5,000 and drew upon her bill at 4 months for the amount which was accepted by the latter. On 4th August 2012 Shruti discounted the same at 8% p.a. from bank. On due date Palakdishonoured the bill and noting charges paid by the bank Rs. 50. Palak gave another bill to ShrutifprRs. 5,100 including interest. As Palak became insolvent, the second bill was also dishonoured on due date. Shruti

could recover only 50% from the estate of Palak as full and final settlement. Show the entries in the nooks of the drawer only.

13) Rectify the following entries:i) Sale of goods Rs. 6,000 to Madan were recorded as Rs. 600.ii) A credit purchase of goods from Mohan amounting to Rs. 2,000 has been wrongly

passed through the sales book.iii) A return the goods worth Rs. 500 by a customer was entered in purchase return book.iv) A cheque received from Ranjan of Rs. 1,000 was dishonoured and debited to discount

account.v) Bill of Rs. 820 received from Ramesh for repairs of machinery was entered in

purchases.vi) Furniture purchased on credit form Ravi for Rs. 4,000 was entered as Rs. 400 but it

was posted correctly in his personal account.14) Where will ‘Outstanding wages account’ be placed in final accounts if these are given in

trial balance. 15) What do you mean by Marshalling of Balance Sheet? Give the two ways of Marshalling of

Assets and Liabilities. 16) Mr. Brijesh tells you that his capital on 31st March, 2012 is Rs. 18,700 and his capital on 31st

March 2011 was Rs. 19,200. He further informs you that during the year he gave a loan of Rs. 3,500 to his brother and paid rent at the rate of rs. 100 p.m. and electricity charges at an average rate of Rs. 10 p.m. on business account. During the year he sold his personal 7% Govt. Bonds of Rs. 2,000 at 2% premium and brought that money into the business.

You are required to prepare a Statement of Profit.
