Dear friends in 4-H youth development,I am pleased to present the 2008 Wyoming State 4-H Foundation Annual Report. The Wyoming State

4-H Foundation experienced another productive and growth fi lled year throughout 2008.

The Wyoming 4-H Program has never been in better shape to serve the 8,000 plus members in the state.

The Foundation received new college scholarships, held several fund raisers and many more 4-H youth

received opportunities to participate in a variety of project areas. Our donors make all of these things

possible and I would like to thank everyone involved.

The Wyoming State 4-H Foundation held two very successful fundraisers this year. A raffl e held in conjunc-

tion with Jake Clark’s Mule Days in Powell and the Platte River 4-H Shootout took place at the Silver Spur

Ranch in Saratoga for the second consecutive year. Funds generated from these events help fund the

project areas that are quickly becoming popular with the youth, but still lack suffi cient funding to provide

basic program support. In addition, this past year the 4-H Foundation received a Daniels Fund grant to cre-

ate opportunities for youth to gain experience in preparing entry into the workforce. Activities will include

a business plan contest, honing interview skills, and a small business incubator for 4-H youth.

The fi rst annual Showcase Showdown was held in Riverton and had nearly 300 4-H youth and adults in

attendance. During this event, there were numerous contests, activities, and educational programming;

many of these encompassed Science Engineering and Technology areas of 4-H projects. At this event

there were some new contests created in order to meet the changing and growing interests of today’s

youth. The second annual event will be held June 26-27 in Riverton and will provide even more oppor-

tunities for youth participation then the inaugural event.

Donors and their generosity are the driving force behind the 4-H program in Wyoming. Without the

resources donated to the Wyoming State 4-H Foundation, the 4-H youth would be unable to take advan-

tage of numerous statewide activities. Again, thank you to the many donors who have supported the

4-H program and its youth. If you or someone you know is interested in supporting Wyoming 4-H as it

moves into the future, the Wyoming State 4-H Foundation may be reached at 307-766-2528, or you can

contact any of the Foundation Board of Directors.

Sincerely,

Steve Mack, Director

Wyoming State 4-H Foundation
