In Ancient Egypt everyday tools were very simple. There was very little wood in Egypt, so tools had to be made with whatever was available. They also had to be easy to repair.

Each farmer’s land was divided from another by boundary stones. They stayed in place even when the Nile flooded.

It was a serious crime either to block the channels of water to a farmer’s field or to move his boundary stones.

If a stone moved, one of the pharaoh’s men had to be summoned to put it back in place and the person who moved it would be punished.
