Winnipeg, MB February 21, 2014 The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) announces their 20142015 season and celebrates a significant moment in Winnipeg, and in Canada, with the opening of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR). "The 20142015 season is as diverse as it gets, from Beethoven to Bachman; from Natasha Paremski to Sarah Slean; and from the Nordic FesVval to the celebraVon of human rights to Ballroom with a Twist. How can you top that? Personally, BriXen's War Requiem will be a big highlight as it's one of the most emoVonally intense pieces ever wriXen," says Alexander Mickelthwate, WSO music director. The WSO presents its 67 th season with six series, 39 unique concerts and 66 concert dates that includes internaVonal guest arVsts and conductors, local gems, mulVmedia presentaVons and films with orchestra. The  WSO's  24th  annual  New  Music  FesVval  opens  with  the  world-­‐renowned  Ardiu  Quartet  performing  Wolfgang  Rihm's  ConcertoDithyrambe  for  string  quartet  and  orchestra.  This  year's  fesVvalwill  include  composers  such  as  Mason  Bates  and  John  LutherAdams  plus  many  more.  The  fesVval  closes  with  performances  ofAndrew  Norman's  Sacred  Geometry,  Giya  Kancheli's  Dixi  and  JohnLuther  Adams's  Become  Ocean.  More  details  to  follow  in  2014.
