In-situ methods: Photographic diary and the walking discussion

Context
• Public consultation• Regeneration of urban public space:
– University campus– Urban park
• Key questions:– What do you like/dislike?

the space?

• Individuals taking photos around a public space + taking notes: • When? Where? Why?
Suggestion for improvement?
• Disposable vs. digital camera → need flexibility
• Unique engagement with the surrounding environment
• Reflection & imagination• Increased focus• Captures what is important
to participants• Balanced comments• Images as evidence• Accompanying text

Walking discussion
• Walking through a public space and discussing it as a group
