SCHOOL NE WS

Primary News: Last week, we took advantage of the torrential rain, and using the

Bureau of Meteorology website, we investigated the amount of rain in 24 hours from the 21– 22 March 2018. Using coloured water and test tubes, we displayed the amount of rainfall. Mt Seaview had the highest measurement of 168 mm. Rollands Plains had 122 mm. We used our skills to understand measurement. We learnt that maths is all around us and we can use maths everyday. In English, we have been writing super hero stories. This is part of Saxon ’s story:

Setting: In the dark side of the city.

My super hero is strong as steel, has the power of iron and a cape of steel. He also has the power of heat and melting. His name is ‘Reflector Boy’. He has the power to reflect bullying, and to stop the evil sign of bullying ... So Reflector Boy did just that. BOOM! BANG! POW! went Reflector Boy.

Cascade Environmental Education Centre Camp

On Monday the 26th March, 2018 Rollands Plains Year2-Year 6 went to Cascades Envi-ronmental Centre in Dorrigo for an overnight camp. We went there in a bus that was driven by Mr Clissold. It took us 4 hours to get there. As we were driving up Dorrigo Mountain we saw 2 big magnificent water-falls. When we got there we went bushwalking to explore the rainforest. We had to see what flora and fauna we could find. We got lots of leaches on us and saw a brush turkey nest. The next day we all got to pat Gadget the Bearded Dragon and Twilight the Coastal Carpet Py-

thon. Briar and Matilda got to hold Twilight. We had lots of fun and were sad to leave. However, we were excited to get home to our families.
