The sculpture represents one of the Romans most powerful emperors Caesar Augustus. Caesar Augustus was a very important Roman emperor and had a very long reign which proves he was a very good leader and emperor to his people; he started Roman peace and had good leadership. The Roman people must have looked up and admired Julius Caesar Augustus and wanted to show this through sculpture, therefore they created the Caesar Augustus Bust. They materials used such as genuine bronze and the highest quality Carrara Marble shows that the people wanted to use good, strong and high quality materials to create a sculpture of a good, strong and high quality leader. The detail of this sculpture is very interesting. The features on the face such as the eyes, mouth, nose, wrinkles and the hair of Julius Caesar Augustus show that the sculpture must have taken a lot of time trying to create and perfect this sculpture. The detail on the armour is very precise and detailed. The engraving and features on the armour show the quality and protection this emperor must have had. The sculpture is not very big and just shows the upper part of Julius’s body however it looks heavy and expensive. The sculpture can be seen as by the Romans as an inspiration and an idol. The Romans can look up to this and remember that their people were once run by a very intelligent and wise man. The sculpture shows the upper body of Caesar Augustus and the skin and hair does not seem to be coloured. This may show that towards the end the sculptor rushed or it could mean there was a lack of colour during the times of the Romans. The sculpture was made after the death of Caesar Augustus.
