Writing Prompt #8 Figure 1 Source Paying (and Paying) for Kids to Play This is a synopsis of what some parents send for their child to be in youth sports. The website which this photo was a part of discusses the rising cost of youth sports. As you can see from this photo is breaks down the costs for the sports it covers. This is only based on what that particular family spends. Costs can vary from one family to another depending on what their league requires. Coast can also vary depending on the family. As you see from Marcus who plays Ice Hockey, his family pays for a Fitness Trainer and a Skate Trainer. Not every child in every state within that sport would have the exact same expenses, but this give a good idea of what a family might be looking at spending. These are season expenses. I like this photo and would like to incorporate a similar photo/slide like this for our presentation. Ours would be a bit different based on our own research.

I would like to take the time to discuss these injuries per sports more. These number in this image are based on 2011 and 2012 data. I would like to use this image because I think it shows nice graphics but would like to find more updates for 2013 and 2014 if possible.

Another area we would like to talk about is injuries in youth sports. This image gives a good idea about how many injuries are happening within youth sports over a year. Looking at this image we have can see a breakdown of common injuries and the percentage of injuries per sport. With 1.35 million youths in sports every 3 minutes a child is seen in the ER for an athletic

related injury. Most common injuries Strains and Sprains. According to the date presented here the sport with the highest percentage for injuries is Ice hockey

So what is it all about? The pain, the time, the commitment, is there a point to it all. The experiences these kids get are like none other. These kids put their heart and soul into their sport. For most it is not just something to pass the time. You can play video games or take long naps for that. For most kids they have a huge passion for their sport. For some the payoff is winning the Gold, Silver or Bronze medals. For others it is just getting that chance to preform and do your best. If you have the chance to meet one of your idols not once but twice, well that is just a bonus. And if she signs your cast, which you got for your common sport, even bigger bonus. These are all memories which will last a life time for these kids. We as adults should keep that in mind and make all those memories good for them.
