World History CP Course Syllabus
Course Description:
World History is a required survey course that explores key events and global historical developments since 1450 C.E. We will uncover patterns of behavior, identify historical trends and themes, explore historical movements and concepts, and connect the past to the modern world. We will refine our ability to read for comprehension and critical analysis; summarize, categorize, compare, and evaluate information; write clearly and convincingly; express facts and opinions orally; and use technology for communication, collaboration and critical thinking.

Homework GuidelinesH314
Due to the nature of Social Studies, homework is essential every school night. This course is no exception. Whether the student is working on a written assignment, completing research, reading information generated in class or studying for a major test, successful completion of homework is a key ingredient in obtaining superior grades. Students are responsible for all class notes, activities, tests, quizzes and projects. This is also true for absences. My goal is to help you gain independence and succeed in this course. I will also be available for extra help before and after school by appointment. Get ready to work hard, and best of luck!
ATTENDANCE: Daily attendance to class is essential in order to develop a complete understanding of the course
content
GRADES: Your grade will consist of quizzes, homework, projects, writing assignments, major tests, class
participation and attendance. Major tests are announced at least 2 days in advance. Quizzes however, may not be announced.
PLAGIARISM AND CHEATING GUIDELINES AND ABSENCES Please refer to the guidelines available in the Student Handbook.
LATE WORK: Late HOMEWORK assignments will NOT be accepted. Leaving assignments on the desk, in the office, or
in the teacher’s mailbox is unacceptable and no credit will be granted for the assignment.
Major projects and course requirements will be accepted no more than two days late, with a penalty of 5% for each day late.
Technological difficulties (example: printer failure) will not be considered a valid excuse for late assignments.
Tests must be made up in a timely manner. If no new information was taught the day before the test (a standard practice), then you will be expected to take the test on the day of your return.
