As a result of the Japanese Attacks on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. declared war on the Japanese.

The Japanese were allied with the Nazi party of Germany and the Fascist party of Italy. As a result, Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S.

U.S. forces had already been allied with the British and French forces but had yet to fight.

Great Britain and France were already at war against the Nazi’s and Italy so the U.S. joined forces with the British.

WWII was now at full strength.

Four months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle commanded a raid on Tokyo Japan.

This was to be the first attack on the Japanese home islands.

This was only a small raid, but it was at the heart of the Japanese industrial center.

This small raid crippled the Japanese forces just as the attack on Pearl crippled the U.S.

When? – December 16, 1944

Where? – border areas near Luxembourg, France and Germany

Results? – The Germans began a counterattack against the Allies as the Allies attempted to drive the Germans completely out of France.

Importance? – This battle showed the desperation of the German forces. While the Germans were able to slow down the Allied advance, they could not stop it completely.

By April of 1945, American and Soviet troops were closing in on Berlin.

Adolf Hitler committed suicide on April 30, and Germany officially surrendered on May 7th, 1945.

In Italy, Mussolini is shot and his body is hung for public display.

The endless procession of German prisoners marching through the ruined city streets to captivity.
