PHILOSOPHYMr Guth’s curriculum includes classical, jazz, and popular music studies. Musicreading, improvising, composing, ensemble playing, technique and soundproduction are presented in clear-cut andsequential ways, yet the course of study iscustomized for each individual learner. With his school-age students, Guth’s focusisn’t just on “learning an instrument.” It ishis goal to help young people develop thecreative thinking, organizational, anddecision-making skills that they will needas adults, as well as the self-discipline andaccountability that are necessary in thepursuit of any intellectual endeavor.Music, as an art form, is the perfect vehiclefor such pursuits, and one in which Geneis very passionate about. While his goalsare listed above, it is his dream that instudying music, his students will developtheir own passion for it (or any creativeendeavor for that matter)! With his adult students, Guth focuses onthe musical goals of each musician andhelps them find performing groups that fittheir aspirations.
