After my initial technical training, I decided to become an apprentice studying electronic and industrial computer science. This path seemed to be the best route to start my professional career. Siemens offered the most interesting training programme and the scope of my role sounded very interesting. I’ve been working within the Industrial Gas Analyzers Industry Dept at the Industry Automation site in Haguenau since 2009. In my job, I design and perform hardware and software tests for use in the different production process steps. I’ll graduate as an Engineer in September 2013. This experience enables me to combine theory and professional experience and participates in developing my operational skills.
Karina Anders “I am now in my third year as an IT apprentice @ Siemens and am particularly interested in dealing with hardware and IT equipment. During my apprenticeship @ Siemens, I have had the opportunity to work on the Solaris main frame computer system which controls power grids worldwide when I had a placement in the Infrastructure & Cities Sector. During my placement, I learnt how to install and update software. I loved this placement because it combined software and hardware applications. I could also learn a lot about the use of controls & instrumentation applications in energy grids. As part of my apprenticeship, I have also attended a number of additional training courses such as English courses and achieved the ECDL qualification (European Computer Driving License). Once I have completed my apprenticeship, I would love to go to the Mechatronics programme!”

Apprenticeship in Electrical/Electronic Engineering…
are deployed in the fields of electrical power supply- and Communication & Information technology as well as in lighting technology
work on the installation and maintenance of complex production lines (e.g. in the paper industry or in the production of investment goods), the manufacturing of control gears or electrical power supply
Apprenticeship in Mechatronics…
operate in a broad field that varies from installation of assembly lines, to repairs of production machines to programming of control systems
work on the installation and maintenance of complex machines, facilities and systems in the construction and machine assembly industry

The training standards are industry-driven

We currently recruit Craft and Technical
Apprentices. Craft Apprentices usually
work within Manufacturing and would go
on to undertake roles as fitters, turners
and machinists, whilst Technical
Apprentices would usually be destined for
roles in Manufacturing or Design
Engineering. As a Company, we
wholeheartedly support our Apprentices
and the training programs they
undertake.

Training:
We are fully committed to providing the best training for our Apprentices and you’ll benefit every day. Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will be learning a great deal both at the training centre and on the job. You will also be assigned a personal mentor to guide you through the relevant stages, providing continual support.
Over time, you will take on more responsibility and accountability as your skills, knowledge and expertise increase. The benefits and advantages are outstanding – yes, you learn an occupation, but you also learn craftsmanship and the importance of doing things right first time.
Benefits you will enjoy Your apprenticeship at Siemens Our apprenticeship training program is based in Berlin and runs for 3.5 years, starting 1st of August 2012 with an integration program that includes German lessons.
Mechatronics Electrical/Electronic Engineering
Assignment sectors: Industry, Energy, Infrastructure & Cities Location: Berlin
On the job trainings from 11 weeks up to 29 weeks p.a. in the Industry, Energy, Infrastructure & Cities plants in Berlin
Thereof possible 4 weeks in the home country
Assignment in the home country Mentorship program in the home country during the apprenticeship
Candidates with willingness to learn German High school graduates University students who wish to take a change in direction University graduates
IHK (Chamber of commerce) exam in German only
As soon as you join, you will also be taking home a decent “earn while you learn” salary, which has the potential to grow as you gain more experience. In year one you will earn 785 € per month, rising to 921 € per month in year four (as per current bargaining agreement).
30 days’ holiday Accomodation in Berlin Integration Assistance (e.g. IHK registration, bank-account etc. ) 1-2 paid home flights during apprenticeship German and English lessons throughout the program …and much more

Carl Ennis started his career as a technical apprentice in 1988.
After his apprenticeship, Carl was promoted to Design Engineer, then Chief Engineer and became a senior manager in Siemens Transmission & Distribution in 2004.
His next career move took him to Energy Service Fossil where he became Divisional Director in 2007. Aged 43, Carl has just been promoted again, and will head of to China to lead Siemens’ Energy Service Division in the Asia-Pacific region from December 2011 onwards.
Apprenticeships can lead to exciting careers
