Announcements

First Church Band ConcertThe Worship Band of La Grange First Church will present a concert on Today @ 6:00pm. We look forward to worshiping the Lord through music.

Brazil Program and Missions DayOn Sunday, September 13th our Brazil Missions Team will present a program on their Mission trip @ 9:45am in the Fellowship Hall (We will not have our regular Sunday School classes). The focus of our morning worship & celebration will be on missions. Please remember this day in your prayers.

Sunday Night Live - FallBeginning Sunday, September 13 @ 6:00pm we will begin a new program of study entitled: “Renovate. - To Make New.” This program is based upon the ministry of Andy Stanley. If you would like to study/workbook, please sign the list on the bulletin board. The cost of the book is $15.00 each.

Movie Night - Do You Believe? On Sunday, August 30th we will have Movie Night. We will show the movie: “Do You Believe?” A dozen different souls - all moving in different directions, all longing for something more. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each are about to discover there is power in the Cross of Christ… even if they don’t yet believe it. When a local pastor is shaken to the core by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, he is reminded that true belief always requires action. His response ignites a faith-fueled journey that powerfully impacts everyone it touches in ways that only God could orchestrate. More than a move, it’s a

question we all must answer in our lifetime: DO YOU BELIEVE? Make your plans to attend.

PraiseFestThe 3rd annual PraiseFest Outdoor Festival will be October 10 th on the lawn At La Grange Christian Church beginning at 4:00pm. The following bands will be playing: La Grange FWB, Grace Fellowship, Souls’ Devotion of 902 Church, and Jump Start. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and come join as we praise and worship our Savior! A love offering will be received to benefit Sonset Ministries and The Refuge. If you have any questions, contact Josh.

Bible Study - Bible TranslationsHave you ever wondered why we have so many different Bible translations? Have you ever wondered how the books in the Bible got there and others didn’t? On August 5th we began a Bible Study entitled: “Bible Translations: Variety is the Spice of Life” taught by Josh Hobgood. We will dive into the Bible, its translation, and how we can use a variety of translations to impact our spiritual lives. Come and join us as we look at the most well preserved ancient text in all of history, a text that has been forming the Church for thousands of years.

Help Needed - Church GroundsThere are a few things that need some attention around the church grounds. Our shrubby needs to be trimmed, round-up needs to be sprayed washed. If you can help with this, please sign the list on the bulletin board or contact Christine Parrish or Kathryn Hart.

Garden Spot FestivalThe La Grange Garden Spot Festival will be September 11th & 12th. We are seeking to form a team to plan and implement the presence of La Grange First Church. If you believe this is an important outreach ministry of our church and would like to be on this team, please contact the Pastor. We will also need volunteers to work the booth. Please sign list on bulletin board for a time you can help. Also, we will be giving out bottled water. We need all our members to help with this. Please place your bottled water in the Fellowship Hall Kitchen. Thanks for helping us reach our community for Christ!

Our Daily Bread“Our Daily Bread” devotional books for September - November are available on the Usher’s Table. Please be sure to pick up your copy.

Thank you for supporting the ministry of La Grange First Church!

CHURCH MEMBERSHIPAt La Grange First Free Will Baptist Church, it is the responsibility of the congregation to examine and receive new members. If you desire to unite with First Church, please contact the pastor. He will explain what it means to unite with the church and its responsibilities. We receive members in one of the following ways:

You May Unite by Profession of Faith

We welcome into our membership all who are willing to do the following:

1. You must be willing to acknowledge yourself to be a sinner. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:232. You must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners, and confess and depend upon Him alone for salvation. . . . that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:93. You must set yourself apart as a believer for continuing growth through the Holy Spirit and endeavor to live as a disciple of Christ.

4. You must promise to serve Christ in His Church by supporting and participating in its worship and work, contribute according to your ability, and share the meaning of Christ through personal living and witness.

You May Unite by TransferWe will receive into our membership by church letter persons who are in good and regular standing from other denominations.

You May Unite by ReaffirmationThose who cannot secure a letter of transfer (some denominations do not grant letters to Churches outside their own communion), or who have been inactive and wish to make a fresh beginning in the Christian life and rededicate themselves to God, are received on their own statement of faith in Christ.

Baptism administered by an ordained minister is required of all seeking membership. Your baptism must have followed your confession of Christ as your personal Savior.

Page 5: Worship & Celebrationstorage.cloversites.com/lagrangefreewillbaptistchurch/do…  · Web viewIn the WORD. August- Old Testament: Psalm 57-134. August- New Testament: Romans 4-16

The hand of fellowship is extended to all who are received into the membership of the church.

The Church Covenant must be accepted by all seeking membership.

The Articles of Faith and Principles of Church Government for Original Free Will Baptist must be accepted by all seeking membership.

----- TO MAKE NEW ------Have you ever attempted a renovation? You start motivated and often end the first day with a massive mess on your hands. We’ve all been there. So, here’s the question: If renovation is so difficult, why do we attempt it? Over the course of eight sessions, this study will introduce you to the possibility of a personal renovation, exploring the foundation and blueprints of God’s original design for us. Remember, renovation is optional - not everyone is up for the challenge. Whether you chose to undergo a complete overhaul or just freshen the paint, we think you’ll look back on this renovation process and be amazed at the end result. The cost of the study/workbook is $15.00 each. Sign the list on the church bulletin board for your copy.
