FOOTBALL LEGEND ENDORSES TB AWARENESS MESSAGE Indian Development Foundation (IDF) has been successful in getting TB awareness endorsement from the Football Legend I.M. VIJAYAN on the occasion of World TB Day. The icon in his message complimented the efforts of IDF and its volunteers in disseminating TB awareness message to millions. IDF has designed a multi-lingual World TB Day poster which has been widely circulated in India. The messages endorsed by I. M. VIJAYAN "TB is curable ....Our Goal – A TB-free World." “Let's kick out TB and bring smiles.” EARLIER TB AWARENESS ENDORSEMENTS - During the last three World TB Day events, IDF has been successful in getting TB awareness endorsement messages from various sports personalities viz., Cricket Legend Anil Kumble, Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand, Tennis Legend Leander Paes, Women's Boxing Champion Mary Kom, Olympian and India's Ace Shooter Gagan Narang and Olympian and Hockey Legend Dhanraj Pillay. STREET PLAYS AND MARATHON IDF in collaboration with D.J.Sanghvi College of Engineering organized a 6-km marathon to create TB awareness among the masses. Students and volunteers from different colleges took part in the event and disseminated the information. WORLD DAY 2014TBESSAY COMPETITION ON TB

To sensitize the students on TB awareness, IDF organized Essay Writing Competition in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Goa states. The competition was organized in collaboration with Karnataka State TB Association in Bangalore, AP State TB Association in Hyderabad, Goa TB Association in Goa, GREMALTES in Chennai and NILES in Coimbatore. Several students participated in the essay competition both in regional language and English. The award winning students received certificates and cash awards at the hands of health department officials.

MASSIVE AWARENESS RALLY

IDF in collaboration with GREMALTES

Hospital organised a TB Awareness Rally at

Marina Beach on the World TB Day. The

event supported by Indian Overseas Bank

was flagged off at Light House. Students and

volunteers raised slogans and carried

placards with vital information on TB.

Doctors, paramedical workers, volunteers

from various NGOs and morning walkers

took active part in the TB awareness rally

which concluded at the Labour Statue.

In Trichy, Child Jesus Matric School and Sahamatha Nursing College joined hands and in Thanjavur, St. Rita Middle school from Thiruppanthuruthi Village joined hands with IDF for the TB awareness rally. Awareness Rallies were also organized in different parts of India viz., Coimbatore, Salem, Trichy, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

TB AWARENESS EXHIBITION

AT CENTRAL RAILWAY STATION

A TB awareness exh ib i t ion was

organized at Central Railway Station at

Chennai where thousands of passengers

were benefited. Students from Kendriya

Vidyalaya No2, Tambaram, Chennai and

SBOA School & Jr. College helped in

carrying out the exhibition.

On 30th March, TB Awareness was also

Chennai.

TB AWARENESS THROUGH POST OFFICES

Postal Department Chennai City Region supported TB

Awareness programme during World TB Day by

displaying posters all the post offices under the division.

Mr. Mervin Alexander, Post Master General, Chennai City

Region congratulated IDF's public initiative.

IDF salute the Postal Department for extending all support for TB awareness campaigns.

CORPORATE SUPPORT TO TB AWARENESS

World's No.1 Anti-TB Company, Lupin Ltd. sponsored printing of TB Awareness poster for distribution across the nation. Indian Overseas Bank helped in organizing various public awareness events in India.

First Flight Couriers Ltd. helped in distributing 2,00,000

stickers with TB Awareness on all their documents.

Special TB Awareness Posters were distributed at

major locations.

Tamilnad Mercantile Bank and Bisleri Pvt. Ltd. also

supported the awareness programmes in Chennai.

GMR Varalaxmi Foundation and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) also joined hands with IDF for TB awareness and road safety programmes.

Team from Ipca Laboratories distributed Protinex tins for the needy TB patients at Vimala Centre and Bombay Leprosy Project on World TB Day.

Volunteers from Halliburton also supported TB awareness campaign.

Team IDF thank all the corporate bodies and volunteers for extending support for the national cause.

EFFECTIVE NATION-WIDE TB AWARENESS

IDF reached m i l l i ons to c rea te awareness on TB by networking with various NGOs, Schools, Colleges, Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Hospi ta ls / Dispensaries/ PHCs/ Municipalities, Utility Centers, Post Offices, Banks, Insurance companies and other public p laces; l i ke , Bus iness Schoo ls , Eng inee r i ng Co l l eges , Nu rs i ng Institutes, Business Houses, Industries and corporate sectors, Malls, Public Transport division like state-run buses,

auto rickshaws and railways. NSS, NCC, Scouts, Guides and volunteer groups also supported the national campaign.

Campaigns are continued in various rural and urban

areas, villages, hamlets and slum pockets through

talks, skits, street plays, posters, competitions,

pamphlet distribution and to support the efforts of

government. A puppet show on TB awareness was

also organized in Bangalore.
