Kia ora nga whanau o Puketapu,
We are really looking forward to hearing all about the Kauri team speeches over the next few weeks.
It has been great watching them planning their writing using the “hamburger model”, concentrating on a way to hook in their audience.
There are some outstanding speeches that many young people will be able to connect with.
Over the year we have been reviewing our School Behaviour Programme.
The purpose of our behaviour programme is:
MANAAKITANGA: For staff, students and families to create a safe, welcoming, caring and creative learning environment that treats everyone with respect and dignity.
PONO: For staff, students and families to show integrity by acting in ways that are fair, honest, ethical and just.
While we as a school use positive behaviour strategies such as prompting, redirecting, re-teaching, conversation, non-verbal cues, proximity praise, support for procedure and others, we have a clear procedure on what to do if inappropriate behaviours continue during class time or in the playground. This includes contacting the parents and/or caregivers to have a proactive korero around how best to support the student.
Thanks to everyone for a fantastic first two weeks back at school.
Love your kids, listen to your kids, have fun with your kids.
Nga mihi
