REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON NOMINATIONS

The Committee on Nominations; consisting of representatives of the following Member States: Australia, Cuba, France, Guatemala, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Liberia, Netherlands, Philippines, El Salvador, Sweden, Syria, Thailand, TTSA, Venezuela, met on 5 and б May 1953- It met for the second time in accordance with the decision of the Assembly taken at the second plenary meeting on 5 May to reconsider its report (document Аб /26) in the light of the discussion which had taken place at the plenary meeting.

Dr. Jacques PARISOT (France) was elected Chairman, and Dr. Félix HURTADO (Cuba) Rapporteur.

The Committee adopted the following resolution:

The Committee on Nominations

Considering the decision taken by the Health Assembly and in the light of the discussions which have taken place on the subject,

1. CONFIRMS the decisions which it reached at its first meeting and contained in its report submitted to the Assembly on 5 May 1953-

Nevertheless, taking into consideration the wish expressed by Dr. Togba (Liberia) that his name should be withdrawn as nominee for the office of Vice-President, as well as the offer of the delegation of Italy to withdraw, in view of the inadvertent omission of a representative from the South-East Asia region from the proposed membership of the General Committee,

2. DECIDES to make new nominations for these two posts in conformity with the suggestions of the Assembly.

The Committee made the following nominations for the consideration of the Sixth World Health Assembly, in accordance with Bule 23 of the Bules of Procedure of the Health Assembly:

The delegate for India called the attention of the Committee on Nominations to the geographical distribution of the officers nominated by the.Committee, which does not appear to be equitable for the region of South East Asia.
