Successful completion of the FAO proofreading test and typing 35 wpm in Arabic (if applicants have not already passed these tests at time of application, and provided all other essential and specific requirements are met, candidates will be invited to FAO to sit these tests). Ability to coach temporary staff (Arabic). Experience in the preparation of official / diplomatic documents using formal Arabic. Ability to produce pre-translated texts using computer-assisted software. While the generic Job Profile contains the competencies relevant to the profile of a Language Assistant, this position requires in particular the WFP competencies of Teamwork, Behavioral Flexibility and Client Orientation at the G4 level. Language: Working knowledge of Arabic (proficiency / level C) and English (proficiency / level C). Desirable: Limited knowledge (Level B) of a third UN official language. Knowledge of WFP terminology in Arabic. Knowledge of WFP/FAO policies and procedures. Knowledge of Access. Knowledge of computer programmes QuarkXpress and InDesign. Knowledge of computer-assisted translation software (Trados). Candidates in receipt of an SPA to G-4 Level for the duration of one year, will be considered as meeting the essential requirement of having served at that higher level. FAO candidates who have an EOD date prior to March 1986 will be considered internal applicants, as per FAO/WFP agreement.
