*Call to Worship LEADER: Almighty God: from the ends of the earth you have gathered us around Christ’s holy table.

PEOPLE: We come to feast together.

LEADER: Have mercy on your church, troubled and divided.

PEOPLE: Renew us and make us one. Amen.

Opening Prayer (in unison) O God, we join with our sisters and brothers around the world in remembering Christ’s sacrifice for us. For the opportunity to eat and drink together and for the life we have received, we give you thanks and praise. In the abundance of your many gifts, grant us grace to fill one another’s lives with love. Redeem, restore and remold us until we are made new. Transform our daily bread into the bread of life and the cup that we drink into the cup of salvation. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please turn cell phones and electronic devices to “vibrate” or “off” during worship services. Thank you.

World Communion Sunday Observed on the first Sunday in October, this day calls the Church to be the universal, inclusive Church. The day was first observed by Presbyterians in 1936, adopted by the Federal Council of Churches in 1940, and shortly thereafter observed in Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren churches.

*Prayer of Confession (in unison) God of all nations, we praise you that in Christ the barriers that have separated humanity are torn down. Yet we confess our slowness to open our hearts and minds to those of other lands, tongues, and races. Deliver us from the sins of fear and prejudice, that we may move

toward the day when all are truly one in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Grace UMC seeks to provide an atmosphere that enables everyone to worship God in spirit and in truth. A professionally staffed nursery is available in our Forest Oak (FO) wing for infants (FO105), through 2-year-olds (FO104), during the 9:15 and 11:00am services. Look for our nursery workers in the bright yellow T-shirts. We welcome families to worship

together; parents may use the church parlor at any time during worship to attend to their children’s needs. Please see Laura Freeburn or one of the ushers for more direction.
