An accessory for the Dictator scrum machine, the TrueDrive, is designed to help packs scrummage in a straight line horizontally.

When engaged on the machine or during the engage, if the front row lifts the head of the machine upwards past a certain point the TrueDrive alarm sounds and the pitch increases as the head is lifted. Similarly if the head drops past a certain point the alarm sounds and the pitch gets lower the more the head is driven downwards. Based on our popular Premiersled model, the Ngage machine has a mobile head which takes the simulation of scrummaging against a real pack to a new level. If technique isn’t correct, the head will drop, lift or rotate just as an opposition pack would. The machine therefore gives instant feedback on technique and provides an excellent tool to help coaches improve performance at the scrum as well as helping to develop the core strength of the pack.

As with our other machines, the engagement impact on the Ngage is softened. However, the Ngage uses springs behind each individual head pad instead of bungees, providing an even safer training option. In addition, each head is fully adjustable to accommodate both junior and senior packs. Just add or remove bungees to vary the resistance on the machine to suit the pack size and strength.

All other construction details are the same as the Premiersled and the machine can be upgraded by the addition of wheels and ground spikes if required.

Super Rugby’s Chiefs install Rhino-Turf training areaThe Chiefs, back-to-back Super Rugby Champions in 2011-12 and 2012-13, recently installed a Rhino-Turf training area at their training base in Hamilton in New Zealand.
